    Ardrey Kell - Jordan Darnell

I have seen this kid play several times this year - given what he has done in the toughest high school conference I have seen in 10 years - he should be player of the year. (A kid who gets a dominating win against a Providence team lead by Shaffer et. al. on Tuesday and then gets the save 3 nights later and hits the ball all over the field and out of the park...and does this all season long...tough act to follow.) Others have already posted his numbers...

I am sure there are some other great players with great numbers out there, but given what this young man had done against the competition he has played against, IMO this is pretty simple.

I have to add Jimmy Messer to the mix. That kid is a Beast on the hill and recently has added the strong bat to the mix.

    A Sophmore I know of.

    This young man did this:

    .563 BA, 1 or 2 HR?, 5 doubles, 14 RBI's (18 for 32 for his average)

Had 6 wins with 1.08 ERA with 81K's in 52 innings pitched.

No bad IMO. May not be player of the year but he sure did well.

Not bragging just thinking how about how well he did.

I couldn't agree more about Jimmy being deserving of the POY. This makes 2 years in a row South Caldwell has had arguably the most dominating pitcher in the state with last year Madison Bumgarner being the POY.

His updated stats on the year are the following:
He has pitched 51 innings, had 94 strikeouts and one earned run allowed. His ERA is 0.14. In the last 3 games alone he has pitched 19 innings, struck out 36 and allowed only 4 hits total.

Not only is his pitching outstanding but Jimmy is carrying his weight at the plate as well. He has delivered many RBIs recently and against AC Reynolds hit a Grand Slam with the Rocket's pitcher entering the 7th inning with a perfect game on the line.
