The longest ball I've ever seen hit was one Madison Bumgardner hit in Thomasville during the AL state tourney in 2006. They were playing Kannapolis and he hit one into the night. Finch field had an old wharehouse out past left field, the ball never sniffed that wharehouse. way over it. i've told this story before but we no longer call the big homers bombs or scuds or donkeys, we call them maddies

    Tyler Tewell

South Meck HS field, couple of weeks ago. Tyler hits a shot over the right field wall (320 feet) that cleared the back stop for the practice bullpen area. Anyone that knows the field knows how far that is. Had to travel at least another 70 feet past the outfield fence. I've seen David Mailman (Providence HS) hit some shots into the trees at Providence, but we're talking about this year, right?

I was there. Glad it happened at night so we could follow that shot going up and up and up and out and out and out. Didn't look like it would ever come down.

The other great shot I saw was by Alex White of DH Conley in the state championship against Ragsdale at Grasshopper's stadium in Greensboro. CF wall is 400 feet and has at least a 30 ft wall with jumbotron screen - it easily cleared that. Monster shot.

    David Mailman HR at Weddington

Last year Mailman hit one over the right field wall at Weddington that landed up on the marching band practice field - this field is well beyond the wall and up 15 to 20 feet higher than the baseball field playing surface.

(He pitched well that day too ! )

    Impressive

Just thought i would chime in on this thread with a shot that cleared the 380 marker with a 16' fence at that point of the field. About a 400'+ bomb hit on a middle school field that is bigger than our local high school field. The kid who hit this impressive shot has hit five other big flys in just eight games this season and is only an eight grader, 14 yrs old. One might think that the bats have alot to do with such distance, and I would agree with that assumption, but you still have to hit the sweet spot, can't imagine the distance would be as far without the composite help.

    Little guy bomb

Not HS but when it happened it was unbelievable.

12y/o kid hit a comparable bomb at youth game. The center field was 210ft.

There was a parking lot behind that and then pine trees beyond that. There was a good 100 feet across the parking lot and to the trees.

When he hit it everyone just stopped and watched it go.

The ball was still rising as it cleared the tops of the trees. Landed in a field beyond.

320ft monster for a little guy and he did it with one of those rec/youth bats.

Another time a different kid (13y/o at the time) had told all of his team mates that he was going to hit a home run.

He goes up to bat and launches a huge monster. The left field was 320. He lifts one up in the air and it lands some 40-50 ft passed the fence.
We estimated it to be a 365ft shot. It was just crushed.

Tonight I saw the longest bomb in all my years of watching games. It was easily over 300 ft. When it came off the bat I could not believe my eyes how high and how fast it went up and over the light towers and trees. AJ Williams is the kids name. Amazing shot!!!!!

Stretchy, were you at the Little Tar Heel State LL Tourney in 2005 when Ellerbe hit the 310 sign. They had the temporary fence up at 200 or so and the ball cleared that and actually hit the sign on the the chain link. Amazing shot for a 12 year old.

Wow. Did you call it fair or foul over center field?

    Titanic shots

Yes I was and this boy could be Ellerbe's twin brother. Regardless of how tight SoutherNo1 gets at games nobody will ever beat your record good buddy.
