Congrats Weddington - Good Pitching Quiet bats

Congrats to Weddington - I got to watch this pitching duel, both pitchers played very well. Weddington got the clutch hit in the seventh to finally score.

Both teams better find a way to get their bats going if they have any plans to go deep into the state playoffs. Tough to win if you don't score. Both teams had chances, but strikeouts killed possible rallies for both teams earlier in the game with runners in scoring positions.

All the pitching from now on will be very good ! Good luck to both teams Monday - and beyond ~!!

It's Weddington versus Myers Park in the SW4A conference tournament championship game - held tonight at UNC Charlotte at 7:00pm.

My understanding is that the winner gets a #1 seeding heading into the state playoffs....

Starting pitchers are unknown? Probably everyone will get a chance to throw some tonight....

 

AK is #1 Seed - Other are up in the air

IF Weddington wins tonight, they bump ahead to #2 seed.
MP goes to #3.
Providence to #4.

IF MP wins tonight, MP gets #2 seed.
Providence gets #3.
Weddington #4.

People have asked how Providence could drop from a possible 2 seed to a possible 4 seed.

Providence finished the regular conference season tied with Myers Park at 10-4 in the SW4A and the two teams had split their games. Providence was awarded the second seed in the conference tournament based up the NCHSAA tie breaking procedure (they beat Weddington twice while MP split with Weddington as they worked their way down the standings comparing how each team did against the first place team, then second etc). This seed was only for the conference tournament.

The two teams (MP/P) meet for a third time in the tournament which MP won. This meeting will now be used to break the tie between the two schools for state play off seeding, so essentially at that point, MP is two and Providence three.

Weddington now in the finals can claim the SW4A 2 seed with a win. If this happens Weddington will move to 2, MP will move down one spot to 3, and Providence will drop one place to 4.

If MP wins, MP will stay at 2, P-3, and Weddington will hold at 4.

I think the Greenies are a little deeper pitchingwise. I love the makup of MP as well. Those guys never quit. I have been very impressed with Weddington as well. They have overcome a lot to get where they are.
