    Coach Cozort at East Burke

should be the NW4A Coach of the year! No one had EB finishing 2nd in the conference. Coach Parham always does a great job, but SC was everybody's pick for #1.

I agree! I personally do not know the man, but everyone seems to forget the start they had earlier this year! Most knew (or was hoping) that things would work themselves out and they did. From what I know, the things he does for the players is beyond what you would expect, and most importantly, he sets a great example. Oh, did I forget to mention that the ball players (past and present) think the world of this guy! Congrats Coach! :trophy:

We appreciate you mentioning Coach Greer from the CVAC. We could not help but notice he was left out of the awards ceremony for Coach of the Year after successfully leading the team to a 3 way tie in the conference. Not to take anything away from the 2 winners but Coach Greer lost 8 seniors last year including his 2 ace pitchers. He returned only 3 players and we were not on anyones radar to do anything this year. And he managed to do it all with only 12 players.

    Coach May rules as always.......

Coach you are exactly right and I didn't think about it in that perspective! I guess you could say that I always feel kids get positive experiences and are taught valuable lessons, it isn't always that way.

One thing I will add though, sometimes when you roll all those studs out there and are expected to win every time you take the field, it can be one of the most difficult times to be a coach, and those teams that are successful in that situation can attribute at least part of it to a great coaching job. If you win, everybody says well you could of took "Joe Dirt" off the street and he could've won with them, and if you lose people say what kind of coach are you, you could've took "Joe Dirt" off the street and he could have won it.

Yeah, I agree with Coach27 and I believe there are many good coaches out there that can't get the studs year in, year out. But should be recognized for their efforts in developing young men.

However, there is a reason schools with great winning programs are able to do that...and it's not just with a team full of stud players. Those coaches are ensuring their players are working hard all year and those coaches are spending time with their feeder schools in developing young talent. Their commitment to excellence is not an every other year expectation. They demand it each year regardless of cycles of talent, yet they consistently maintain a winning program.

I'm with Coach May that the COY should not be solely based on wins/losses. But just like a hitter with a high batting average, it lets you know you have a good hitter. Is he the best hitter that year? Maybe/maybe not

You all seem to be forgetting Marvin Ridge high school coach Mark Mennitt. He led the first year school with no seniors to an 19-4 season and a conference championship

Brad Shrock - Millbrook High school. Took a team that was expected not to do much to getting a share of the Cap 7 regular season title. 07 they finished 6-14, 08 they finish 15-8.

If one knows Coach Mark Mennitt, he is not a guy you tend to forget.

Nobody can be happier than I am with the success he has had:drummer:
