    Shoemaker girls

Check out Yanceyville, NC ... there are three sisters with the last name Shoemaker! I think the two high school are 60+ and their 7th grade sister is right behind them!

There is also a pitcher at the middle school in the 8th grade at Dillard that is right around 60!

    Simple Coaching Test

Honestly what player would you select for your team

    Pitcher A vs Pitcher B

    Pitcher A:great location,great movement,masters 5 pitches, Max Speed 58

    Or

    Pitcher B:great location,great movement,masters 5 pitches, Max Speed 68

If you selected Pitcher A ( you failed this test)

If you selected Pitcher B (you passed this test) :N1amenHL2:

    Depends...

Who is the better teammate, has a better attitude, works harder, and is more coachable? If it is pitcher A, I will take her every time!

    This happens every day....
Only problem is there are Nineteen (19) pitcher A's for every One (1) Pitcher B.

So, if I get a pitcher "A", I don't feel I failed.... I just have to get her to
    "study" more....

    The real world...........

Pitcher A:Very Coachable, Great Teammate, Great Attitude, Works Hard, 4.50 GPA, Volunteer's at homeless shelter, Parents have alot of money,Great hitter and fielder....She has great location, great movement, masters 5 pitches, Max Speed 58, Will take a few years to be competitive within your conference.

    Or

Pitcher A:Knows Everything, All about herself, Horrible attitude, works enough to get by, 2.50 GPA, Volunteer's for nothing, Parents think she walks on water, want full ride, Great hitter and fielder....She has great location, great movement, masters 5 pitches, Max Speed 68, Probably can take you to the Big Dance.

    And the answer is.................

    You asked...

Of course with all things being equal (same core team just needed a pitcher to get you over the hump), most people would say pitcher B since getting to the big dance is the ultimate goal, however, I think most of us have seen players like that, not just pitchers and not just softball, rip teams apart at the seams. It never seems to work out for anyone so is it really worth it?

Then there is the question of did you know pitcher B was like that in advance or did you find out after that fact?

Right or wrong, I can honestly say that I would prefer to have pitcher A (not sure what the parents having lots of money has to do with it...). Being a confident coach, I think that I could build a great 'team' with her as a vital piece. She would have the respect of her teammates and they would do anything for/with her. When that team gels together, watch out for the next few years!

I also believe in having fun and think that has a lot to do with the performance of the team. You can't have fun if a core piece of the puzzle doesn't get along with the rest of the team. Hmmm, this sounds a lot like several 'sports' movies I have seen. Maybe I spent too much time in front of the TV...

JMHO - let the dart throwing commense... :)
