Let me try this again since I whiffed on the first one.

According to the NCHSAA: "Wild cards will be placed on the brackets with geography in mind."

They (NCHSAA) do say that teams from the same conference can play each other in the first round, but in the first two years of the wild card I have seen them avoid that situation.

This year, the brackets are even more diverse than in the past. Previously, all the teams from the same conference where placed on the same side of the bracket were as this year that is not the case, so it is even easier to place wild cards onto the bracket without having them play a team from their own league.

This year, it could be possible that two teams from the same league meet in the regionals.
