i have been told that anderson bat co will no longer honor the warrantee for bats purchased on ebay for less than map pricing or if you purchased the bat from someone who is not a registered distributor for them. this has been an issue for some time, as they have no way of controlling the price on ebay for new bats, and its unfair for the distributors who are required to stick to the map pricing. this is now effective for all bats retroactive to one year ago....

i have also been told that the other bat companies will follow suit in the near future.

so, this seems to be a case of a good deal not really being a good deal. you might save $30.00-40.00 but have a bat with no warrantee program.....

    discuss????? good or bad???

This is bad. If a company has faith in the quality of it's product it should warrant the product regardless of the current owner.

    Is this legal???

How do they know who you bought the bat from? Do you have to provide a reciept or something like that when you return it?

This seems fishy to me. I understand there are people who make their living selling the bats and don't want people under cutting them but it doesn't seem fair or legal for a company to say we will not honor your warranty because you didn't pay enough for the item. The warranty is for defects in their product(s).

This would be like Ford saying you have to pay MSRP or the factory warranty is void.

similar situation to John Deere electing to market their lawn tractors thru Lowes.... dealers with millions invested in bldgs and marketing were rightly upset but in the end Lowes can move many more mowers than the dealers could. If Anderson supports their dealers then the question becomes: will sales drop off and by how much? Money will make the decision in the end.

I only bought '04 used RT's on Ebay and after about the 3rd one bit the dust (after paying a nice premium) I decided I had learned my lesson!

    Last years models?

Does this apply to last years (or even older) models? I would imagine some dealers use eBay and/or other sites to dump their 'older' stock that they can't move.

My question is, how do they know you bought it off of e-bay?

If I bought a bat and my dd used it in 2 games and just hated it, I then sell it to another parent for $30 less than what I paid, is the warranty still good?

correct, it will only affect some of the late model 07's, all the 2008's and the new 2009's.

to return something on warrantee, you must have an original receipt, so appartently if the name of the seller doesnt match a registered distributor, you're out of luck or if you send in a receipt for less than map pricing, warantee is questionable at best.

it's like this, i HAVE to sell a 2008 for 259.00, but you can go on ebay and find the same darn bat selling for 229.00. corporate often cant find out who's really selling the bats, so its unstoppable to them, and this is appartently their answer to this problem, in an effort to keep the legit distributors from dropping their prices.

warrantee is good for you as you bought it, but not for the second owner of the bat.
