Yea!!!! Need to play'em.. It is about who has the best team. I say every three days play. Rain next day. Does drag on to much. This is high school. Short season. I see where this conferance does this this one does that. Make it the same. As far as the rules. I suggest every coach carry a rule book and ask. If you do. Be able to point it out.

It is the same for everyone

    Fri - 1st round
    Tues - 2nd round
    Fri - 3rd round
    Tues- 4th round

    First 4 rounds single elimination

    Thurs - Sat - Eastern / Western Finals 2-3
    Fri - Sat - State Finals 2-3

If both coaches agree during the first four rounds games can be moved up a day. Everyone has the same option of doing this. Some want to some do not. We never have. But as long as the rules allow for it then someone is going to do it. But it is legal and everyone is aware of it.

The rule used to read that the game had to be played by the date posted not on the date posted. Haven't read the rules in a couple years but bet there still the same

    Correct

That was the rule when I coached high school ball. We had to play by a certain date. Games were often played before that date mostly if bad weather was predicted.

    Per Mincmi

From the handbook: Game time will be 7:00 p.m. Any exceptions must be approved by the NCHSAA.
Deadlines are set for completion of each round, but competing schools may play on an earlier
    date by mutual consent.

as far as south caldwell goes it doesnt matter what day they play or who they outon the mound all three of those kids can pitch and their line up is going to scoer against anyone. since that watauga game when they were shut out they have been tearing up opponents pitching. One or two days rest isnt going to change the fact that Parham will have those boys ready to play. If you have one good pitcher then i understand the big deal about it- but thats not the case. Messer, Poarch, or Penny- it doesnt matter those kids are all winners. I am not from South but that program and those coaches do things the right way. One day isnt going to change the team.

Cody Penny goes the distance for South striking out 9. Parker Thomas started the game for Mt. Tabor and was taken out in the 4th inning after falling behind 6-0. Cody Prestwood for South hit a 3 run shot off Matt Batts who relieved Thomas and pitched the remainder of the game.

Team ERA for South going into tonight's game was 0.63 and will improve even more after tonight. South is currently ranked #5 in the nation in both Baseball America and USA Today polls.

The Spartans will next take on Weddington Friday night at home. I would imagine Jimmy Messer will be the starting pitcher. Jimmy's ERA is 0.12 and he has only given up 1 run this season in South's only loss on the season 1-0 to Watauga. Jimmy has a 25-1 record over the past 2 seasons.
