Middle school baseball score update

Weddington Middle School wins Conference in Union County

Overall record for Weddington Middle School this year was 21 - 1. 18 - 1 in conference and 3 - 0 out of conference. Sunday, April 20, 2008 was the Championship for the Union County conference tournament where they defeated a strong Sun Valley team. It came down to extra innings where the Wildcats won 6 - 5. These boys will be attending Weddington High School in the Fall. Congrats to the Weddington Wildcats for a terrific 2008 season.

Weddington Middle School Players

PUP - I would have to say that more than half the kids play USSSA or AAU during the summer and Fall. The others are really just good athletes that play baseball in the Spring. 3 of the boys play for the 2012 On Deck O's. They'll start up their season at the end of May since they have to wait for their teammates that are still playing in Charlotte-Meck and Round Rock, SC. Lastly, Weddington usually has over 75 kids try-out for one team. Starting next year, it sounds like they will have middle school JV and Varsity Teams and other Union County schools might be following that same idea. It's great to give more boys a shot.

Doubleheader sweep

County rival Nash Central took two from the city boys of Edwards by scores of 5-0 and 6-5 this afternoon.

Game One: Complete game shutout by Jordan Taylor or Taylor Jordan?

Game Two: walk off win in bottom of the 5th on an error. Dillon Moore goes the distance.

NOTE: The Nash Central coach got his bell rung in the coaches box on an errant throw. He now talks in a very high tone!!

 

Middle school Cabarrus County Championship 5/15

Game scheduled for Thursday at Moore Park in Mooresville,NC.Championship game will pitt top seed C.C.Griffin and Mooresville.Game time will be 4:00pm provided there is no rain.I will be on hand and staff for C.C.Griffin.Come out and support the players for this year's championship conference.
