Best High School Hitter for Average in North Carolina

I look at it this way if it can be caught,and not it's an E7,E8,or E9 in my book, sorry nothing personal .... Guru

 

It might be catchable in Travel Ball or College Ball because the player knows what way to run but it wouldn't always be catchable in High School because lack of experience, knowledge and drive.

As a parent of pitcher it sucks but you have to base it on weather the person playing that position at that time can make the play. In travel ball and college those girls are going to make routine plays and make the harder plays look routine where in High School they are ruled a hit.

 

2 way street

The skill level of the defensive player has nothing to do as to how a particular batted ball is scored... it is a moment in time... it has nothing to do with the level of play... it is either a hit or an error...

Last time I checked, HS pitchers get credit for strikeouts against less experience, knowledge and drive...

I also agree with you there on the pitchers but this is also the reason high school batting averages are higher.
When you have girls playing that can't get to a ball like that of a travel ball player or college player due to conditioning you have to give the batter a hit.

 

Why are we hung up on batting averages. Below the college level they mean nothing except when comparing players within a team by the coaching staff to determine batting order.

 

Wow! Travel ball is now on the same level as college!

 

In some instances a much higher level. There are some awesome TB teams out there!!

 

IT COULD HAPPEN

Please. All of you must know that if you have someone with 2.7-2.8 speed and hit a chopper to ss or a good bunt anywhere, it is going to be a hit. My DD hits for a very high ave., mainly because of that. But don't say it just can't happen because it does.I know that .600+ Ave. will drop significantly in college, but that is what a lot of college softball is right now.Speed is a big part of softball right now. I say this only because you see the high average and people assume it can't be true. Why should the player be punnished for hussling her butt off? Honest Scorekeeper

 

Sounds to me this post is going to cause nothing but argument. these blown-up averages are going to mean nothing to a college prospect..but that's jmho!
