There were several college coaches there last year. The Pride showcase is right down the road and several coaches took in games at the state games. Kind of confused about the initial statement you had. There are actually 2 different formats for the state games. there is a youth division (which can be up to 18U and this is for travel or rec teams) and then there is the high school level (which is the "tourney" i think you saw last year). The youth division has been going on for several years (at least 3 or 4 that i know of) but this is only the 2nd year of the high school. Hope to see ya there and maybe this needs to 1 of our unofficial TBR gatherings this year. What do ya say Pop? Cheeze? Buellar? Buellar? anyone? lol

I wasn't aware there were two different formats. I thought that softball competition was going to be replaced with the high school format. Well, good if they can do both!

I was running back and forth between the State Games and the Pride tournament, also.

I know there will be a lot of college coaches at the State Games. This is a good thing. They would miss an excellent opportunity if they didn't attend. But I'm hoping that it will be a State Games tournament uninfluenced by the "Showcase" mentality. The difference may be subtle but it's important. I would hope that the college coaches could see competition for competition's sake; not to show off players necessarily. That's what the tournament down the road is for. And it does it well. If you talk to the girls you will find that showcases take away a little of the fun of competition. But if they choose that so be it. But I would like to see the State Games remain free of that.

    Count me in!

Wow! An unofficial gathering at the State Games with members of the TBR family. Like I said, count me in. I plan to be there from start to finish so you will know where to find me. Lots of excellent eating establishments in Greensboro near UNC-G. Thanks for the invitation!!!
