    Shameful post

This should have been handled in private if at all. Do not be disrespectful to members.

    Thanks y'all

I appreciate all of you responding back in a mature and respectful manner. Those that "know" me certainly know that I'm the first to give accolades to other player's efforts and the first to critique my son for plays that he should have had. I have never ever been one to put to memory someone's name on the other team...from rec ball thru AAU and up to high school. I never knew that was a prerequisite for admiring the play of another team or the players. You are right dabatboy, it is a team game and that is why I remember how a team plays "in total". You can no doubt see that by my thread as to teams to watch. As for errors, I s'pose that's a trick question and for one...I could care less. If one was committed by my son, I can tell you he did it trying to make a play and probably one very few could have attempted in the first place. WJHS had a fine "team" and they should celebrate as one. I don't care about overall records of conferences...baseball as a sport is a great equilizer. Anyone can beat anyone on a given day. Should you have any further issues to bring to my attention, please contact me directly and I'll address you or your concerns...but before you do, ask the parents on the team if I was ever critical of anyone's play? Ask the players if I didn't always come up to them and make mention of their effort or a play that was a game changer? I think you'll be surprised at the responses. I for one am tired of where this thread is going. Out.

    Other players

Ok, then I will say the names of the good players at Garner. They were Will Medlin going to Chowan and Zach Howell who I hear is also going to UNC Greensboro with Kris. That wasnt so hard? It has nothing to do with me or whining and yes I am being polite and yes other players need accolades on this board by neutral posters.

College coaches, the best all around player I have seen in my age group from the area is from Harnett Central. I never played against him, but I have seen him play many times. His name is Jim Ealy. I think he was a senior this year and last year he was rated #1 by the baseballfactory.com (baltimore) top tools training in 2 categories.
Top Hitting ability and Top Raw Power. Anyone hear of him before? Doesnt this board need more postings like this about players that dont make the local paper. This year, I heard he was nursing a sore arm from pitching (which he never liked), and I didnt get any other info about his stats. I remember he had a great arm, ran like a deer in the outfield and you never needed anyone on the corners because he could cover it all, hit more triples in AAU than anyone I can remember, and was a great person to hang with. He is an eagle scout and an honors student and always had a good time both on and off the field.

I'm sorry to hear this but maybe it's time to stop waiting for people to come see you and you and your teammates get out and see them. Go to showcases or camps and get your name out there instead of waiting for cars full of scouts/college coaches to come pulling up to your field. Take the proper steps to get your name out there and stop waiting to see your name on a website. But also go to as many camps and showcases as possible. There are some great venues in NC/SC like the Andy Partin showcaes and among many more.

But I understand your frustration in this matter but you have to go to where the scouts and college coaches are and DON'T EVER expect them to come to you.

Even though this is a great website with many great people, this isn't the greatest website for scouts and or college coaches. This is a message board known be a lot of people but only a few scouts/college coaches. Scouts and college coaches dont come flocking to this website to see what is going on with a certain player is doing. Not saying that scouts haven't been on here before but to get your name out there on a national level, your name needs to be on a website that scouts go to like http://www.impactbaseball.com/ . Also another thing is to sit down and develop a list of schools you like and write out letters to them and include a video tape of you pitching, hitting, fielding whatever you can do. They actually look at videotape a lot and can decide to go see a player off that tape. Be realistic in your schools and be sure to include things like grades and other achievements you have earned.

It's time you take the ball and start getting your name out there instead of waiting for other people to get your name out there because then it might be to late.

I personally feel that this may not be the best direction to go. I think the best thing to do is look at the schools you are interested going to and which ones fit your educational needs best. When you have your choices whittled down, go to the school web site and you normally can find an athletic questionaire. Follow the qustionaire with an email, and if the coach is interested, he will find a way to see you or have a workout you may attend. Chances of making it in pro ball are minute, so find schools that meet your needs for the future, then look at their ball club. I love the game, but it is a game, your future as a man is much more important...prepare well.

Yes i agree the future is the best part but not all these schools have questionaires. I just got done with four years of college baseball and the thing I noticed more that they rather see tape of you play then read about how you play. They can learn a lot about you watching tape and can see if your ready for that level or if you don't quite match up to what they are looking for.

I have been to my fair share of showcases and tryouts and anything you can imagine involving baseball and for recognition pruposes this is the best way. I was fortuante enough to go to the East Coast professional showcase my junior year and among major league and college coaches there were about 300 there. I'm not trying to brag by no means but my point is sending out letters isn't enough these days. They need to see some game film because in order for them to come see you they need a reason. A thing to remember is that these coaches get a ton of mail telling them how great Timmy is and how he can sling that ball and hit it over the house. Getting a video tape of yourself and making copies of it and sending it to college coaches is a great idea of you don't like to go to showcases.

    My Point wasnt about recruiting...

as much as it was about coverage on this board, as well as other sites such as the one you listend in Impact, I feel like scores from Leesville and Sanderson were less covered than those of schools out west and down east yet Leesville and Sanderson are both playing tonight for the right to go to the East Championship series. I have been recruited and made my self available to these coachs and scouts, as well as other players from out area, yet the teams are not mentioned a lot in the race for a championship. Seems as if the scouts and coachs are coming out but the media/online posters are not.

    The Bottom Line is....

Look guys, if you really want to know why any particular area of schools is or is not promoted on TBR, think about this. MOst of the posts arise from people who are from the Charlotte area. They also have a knowlege of the teams of this area. Whilt TBR has branched out tremendously and accumulated many new members over the past few years, there is still limited number of people from the Raleigh area who promote those teams. Until more people with good knowlege become members and actually start reporting about players from our area, then the promotion will not happen.

    Think about that!
