There is a considerable cost difference between a metal and wod bat. Even a normal metal bat cost more than a great wood bat.

I agree with about about wood bat's but how young is too young for a kid to be swinging wood? What about weight issues of the wood bat so that kids can actually hit the ball and be able to pull it instead of being to slow with it and missing the ball or hitting it to first and second every time. If they couldn't handle a wood bat then you could apply the shift of the infield so that short plays at second base and third moves to short because no kid could pull it.

The ONLY thing I didn't like about wood bats is when a teammate would break my favorite....I would cry for days and swear i wouldn't get another hit. Then when I would find another one I liked....I would hide it.

The umpire always was puzzled why i would run to 1st with the bat still in my hand. I may have been called out a few times because of it....but it was worth it.

I'm sittin here watching state murder clemson......it's brutal. It has become a very boring game.....9-0 State in the 3rd. Metal bats have made college baseball slug fests. Whats funny is that a 9 run lead isn't incredibly large in college baseball (b/c of metal bats)......large, but not real large.

but if the kid is that young you can use a hollow wood bat, as i doubt they would have the strength to break it anyway.

poor pitchers.....can't throw inside black anymore.....thats meat for metal bats. Wood bats would break and it would be a weak ground ball......not to mention you can hit one in the other batters box off the end of the bat and it looks like the ball just came off the face of a Big Bertha with a metal bat

Yep, they might as well go to "superballs" if they dig the long ball. At least it would be safer.
