Yep, I like that kid a lot. He may be a better hitter and he is an outstanding pitcher. He doesn't have that "pro body" that they like, but he will be drafted

Sucks for Mt St Marys, they already drew #1 overall seed UNC in the first round of the NCAA basketball tournament. Now they get to come to Chapel Hill and play the #2 national seed Tarheels in the first game of the baseball regionals. Not fair, huh?

    Draft thoughts and UNC SS

The two best draft eligible pitchers are Steve Hensley (Elon 10-1 3.34 97k's) and Brad Holt (UNCW, 10-1, 3.30 92k's). Hensley is from Asheville and Holt from Albermarle. Both are juniors and they will square off in games 1 of the regional in Cary (UNC's pod). Hensley can touch 97 and Holt pitches between 89-93. Hensley, especially, could help his status this weekend with a couple of big outings.

Garrett Gore, UNC via Hoggard has had his problems in the field this year. He has never been a threat at the plate since arriving in Chapel Hill, but his glove had always been steady at 2nd base. The departure of Josh Horton opened the hole at SS, and apparently in Gore's glove as well. He had a terrible start to the year which opened the door for Graepel. He was even worse and was known for his glove coming out of high school. Chalk Grapel's mistakes up to nerves I guess, but he had a chance to take the job but dropped the ball, literally. I think the job is Gore's until someone coming in next year takes it from him, which could happen.

you say that but never seen him in person

Braves, you need to see Harrilchak in person. The kids built like a truck! He was a big time wrestler in HS and is a worker on and off the field. 0 body fat and is strong!! Runs well too with a cannon for an arm. Hitting .428 is not bad for a kid no one wanted coming out of HS except Surry and a coach at Surry had to beg Elon to look at him. Glad to see he will be playing in front of the hometown crowd in Cary. I am torn. I have ties to all 3 NC based teams in Cary this weekend. Ahhh who to cheer for!

I am torn as well in Cary this weekend. Especially Friday... I work part-time with the Cary Parks department and part of my duties are working at the USA Complex. I jumped all over the hours on Friday knowing it would be the regionals... but I rather be over at Doak watching my Wolfpack. I know 50% of UNCW's roster, but I also know Cory Harrilchak (Elon) and Garrett Gore (UNC) very well.

Baseball247- I'm a big fan of Harrilchak and I'm not surprised to learn he was a wrestler and he is strong. Those things combined with his talents will certainly get him drafted, but I want to make sure you didn't miss my point.

I really hope the young man makes it to the show, but in discussing draft positions and selections, it is a huge gamble in the top rounds because of the money involved. Very, very few scouts will put their job on the line by recommending a college player as their top picks who are 5'11" and 180 lbs.

I am in no way judging Harrilchak's talent (which I really like). Perhaps one of the Pro Scouts on here can weigh in with their opinion about pro bodies, but my point is that he will get drafted, but not the top rounds.

    I hope I'm wrong

    Oh...and I'm pulling for Elon

I wasn't disagreeing with your point

Braves, I totally agree with his draft possible situation. Harrilchak has an outside shot of being drafted and I mean outside. No question about that. There is one factor that definitely is in his favor-- He is left handed..

All I was stating is that he fools you in a uniform and is larger than he appears. I wished someone would take a chance on him because the kid will not disappoint. Great kid, super family, and obviously a heck of a baseball player.

I think he will...and every game he plays in the tournament is another opportunity to turn heads. I had heard about him, but I got a chance to watch him this weekend. He is clearly the best player on an outstanding team.

..and you are right, the fact that he is LH and as strong as a bull certainly helps him. The best part is he will be given an opportunity....and then talent takes over and it won't matter if he is 5"11" or 6"5"
