It's been truly an honor to meet Jim and I'm looking forward to his continued success. There are some young men that you know will be successful in whatever they choose to do...Jim Leggett is one of those young men.

Congratulations to Q, also. You've done a tremendous job in raising a respectful young man.

Thanks for the kind words guys, but you know, I really wish that article had been delayed until after the season. In fact, I would have preferred that the paper not bring it up. It would be nice if they made sure that every player and coach was talked about. Also, it's worth mentioning that 3 other Rocky Mount schools did well in the playoffs this year. Rocky Mount Academy played for the NCISAA 2A state championship, Faith Christian School made it to the final four in the NCISAA 1A championship, and Falls Road Baptist Church School made it to the final four of the NCCSA state championship.

Now, now Q. I understand what you are saying, but in a sport that gets very little recognition from the media...you have to be proud when they do. Jim deserves any recognition he receives and I really doubt any of his teammates begrudge the fact when he does.

Some players you will never tire of hearing about...Jim is one of those players.

I know this is not the thread for it, but Jeff May is another one. He is one of the most talented players we have ever had in our state, yet, I believe, because his Dad is an active poster on TBR, he is rarely mentioned. I know his Dad, much like you, will say, "Awww...it's about the team. He doesn't need the attention." But you are missing the point. Jeff May has worked hard all of his life to put himself in the position to be successful. Why shouldn't he receive the deserved attention that goes with it?

Our kids only experience HS baseball one time. Let them bask in some attention in a sport that gets little. And I am referring to all players...not just a select few.

Just got back from 5 county stadium:

Rocky Mount hit everything Corbin Shive threw at them. Shive did not have any breaking stuff working and the Rocky Mount hitters sat on his fastball. Jim Legett pitched a great game for RM. I don't remember either pitcher having very many strikeouts.....maybe 1 or 2 apiece. When RM hit the ball it found holes, when East hit it, it was at someone. Bryan Goodwin is the real deal. I think he only had one hit, but he hit every ball hard. Zack Smith had a great game at the plate for East. I think he had 3 rbi's and 2 doubles.

Game 2 is tomorrow at 11 am.

I was also impressed with Goodwin, and also with the Rocky Mount SS.

Shive has good stuff, but he appeared to lose alot of velocity when forced to throw from the stretch. The radar gun at the Mudcats stadium took him down from 88-89 to around 83-84 with runners on base.

I still think with the pitching depth ER has, they have a shot to win both games tomorrow. This game tonight was much more of a must-win for rocky mount than for east rowan. That being said it's not going to be easy for ER, because rocky mount really swings the sticks well.
