The bottom line is that AP has spent many years building up the Dirtbags into the team they are today. This is his vocation therefore it must be the best he can develop it into. He works the state well and has developed a positive rapport with college coaches and scouts all over the southeast, especially in NC, SC and VA.

College coaches will go to the games where they can see the greatest pool of talent. There are many excellent teams that do what began with Freddy Suggs and the Anglers years ago. AP has played a tremendous part in taking it to the next level.

If you have a problem with it, well that's too bad. Get over it!! Life isn't fair. Take your sour grapes elsewhere. And like Braves said, if you dont like it, start your own.

    NOT ABOUT ANDY BUT>>>>>>

I read your post six times before I posted. I do not have any problem with Impact they are what they are, same for the Dirtbags and Andy. I will suggest that a change in wording is in order as Andy has said he goes out and recurts the best talent for the Dirtbags. So to imply that he is taking players and making them into the players they are today is flat wrong. Knowing a few of past and present players these guys had their talents. Before the Dirtbags. They were outstanding players before playing with the Dirtbags. I will say he has collected a great group of young men and given them the best avenue to be seen in the state. Is this wrong? No. I wished that the signed or committed player would be replaced with another that could gain from this exposure. This is why the Dirtbags showcase right? To be seen. If not it is just travel ball. A good team traveling to play and win. I would suggest, take the signed and committed players and Impact form the next level league.

    Signed - Committed Players

I know a lot of college coaches who do not watch the older Dirtbags. Why would we use valuable time and resources to watch players who have already made their choices? Most of us are looking at 2009 graduates at this point anyway. If we happen to HEAR of an unsigned 2008 graduate who can fill an immediate need, we will go see him play. I don't know Andy but am aware of his organization. I am 100% FOR anyone who promotes baseball in a positive light!

So any of you who know of unsigned/uncommitted 2008 graduates, let me know who they are and where they are playing.

Side Note: this has been my 1st year on TBR and I must say This Board Rocks! The posters here are knowledgeable and passionate about the sport. We folks from the "EAST" appreciate hearing about players to whom we would not typically be exposed.

Congrats to all on a fine high school baseball season!

You should read it 6 more times and maybe you'll figure out he was talking about the organization not the players.

Most coaches do not watch the older Dirtbags

You are correct because the older Dirtbags do not even play for the Dirtbags. Andy does not have an 08 team. He does not field a sr's Dirtbag team. His 09 team is his older team and I can assure you the college coaches will be out there watching them. Many of the 09's have not verballed yet. All of the 08's have signed and "There is no 08 Dirtbags team."

How fair would it be to the remaining players if everytime a player signed he left the team? How would you keep a team together during the season if everytime someone signed they were dropped from the team? Also this is not just about getting signed. This is a team. They are playing to win and win championships.

As far as development , if you have never played in the program or never had a son play in the program how do you know what type of development goes on? You dont. You just make assumptions based on whatever you want to base it on. There are many types of development. The players selected to play for the Dirtbags are playes that have shown to Coach Partin that they have the skills , make up etc to help the program and play at the next level. They are developed. They are developed by playing with and around other like minded and talented players. They are developed by seeing what it takes to play at the next level. They are developed by playing the best competition in the nation and with some of the best talent in the nation. The coaching is top notch and the development is huge.

What we have here is people making statements and they have no idea what they are talking about. My son got to play with Cody Stanley. He was an 07 my son an 08. He learned a tremendous amount from Cody. He got the chance to work in the bull pens with him. Dicuss different finer points of the catching posistion. He got to catch Patrick Johnson , Ryan Leach , Trent Rothlin , Seth Frankoff , Greg Holt , Vance Williams , Justin Poovey , Aaron King and many more outstanding arms. He picked up tips from all his team mates. He got to work with some outstanding coaches that constantly gave him tips and pointers on improving as a player. Last summer he faced Alex Meyer , Tim Melville , Austin Stadler and many many more top national level pitchers.

People have no idea what type of development is going on unless their kid is actually there. Making the assumption that players are just selected and then sent out there to play without any development quite frankly have no clue what they are talking about. There are many different types of development. If we have to take a player and show him how to field a baseball or how to develop his arm strength then he isnt ready for this level of play. Its the other types of development that these players need and desire.

There is a simple solution for those that are so concerned. Start your own team. Release players as soon as they sign and replace them with new players. Develop them the way you feel they need to be developed. Good luck.

The new season has started and there is no '08 team. When I made my statement about how they're wasting their time recruiting the older Dirtbag players, I had in mind the tournament at App State last fall.

The Dirtbags (as usual) had the marquee gametimes at App, but as I looked around the field, I saw a UNC commit, a Wake Forest commit, an LSU commit, a UNC commit, a South Carolina commit, a NC State commit, a Duke commit, a South Carolina commit...and I thought...why are these scouts here?

I know we're all wrapped up in the IMPACT hype and the great Dirtbag name but thats what I'm talking about, the Fall season. It's one thing for the Dirtbags to hog the marquee gametimes and field locations but it's pointless when it gets to the Fall and most of their guys have already committed or signed early anyways.

    Pasttime

no problem. When the fall comes around most of these guys will be signed. Hey thats what its all about. But some will not have signed. No doubt a couple will be still available. Now if your son was one of the two or three guys not signed how would you feel if they simply dropped the signed players and picked up new ones? How would you feel if they stopped playing at the times and locations the scouts wanted them to play? Coach Partin is committed to helping all his players to the best of his ability. The job is not done until all the players are taken care of. Team mates that have signed will not miss because they want to be there for the other guys. And they love to play. And dont forget about the pro scouts that want to see these guys as well heading into their senior year.

Yeah, I never advocated that the players should quit the team once they sign. That doesn't make any sense. My only problem is the teams where everyone is already signed playing at the times where all the scouts are out.

Didnt know scouts only had certain times they would watch teams??? If your kid can play they will watch you and last time I checked the DB's had to be playing another team so arent they getting seen as well??

This whole line of posts is just ridiculous.

One thing to look at is the fact the scouts will go to the games where they can see the best players, teh top prospects!! They will go to those games whether the team playing is the Dirtbags, the Richmond Braves, etc... If the Dirtbagshave the best players then the scouts will be there regardless of the game time. bottom line

So blame the scouts not AP... if you need to...
