I was in in my home town and saw this Stanly county game, good first game but second game was disappointing because of the parents. I see since the days my kids played things have not changed. Mommy and daddy still sitting there telling little Timmy to hit the ball or its OK or you got him now. I even heard there was a fight between some grand pappy and the coach of one team. Pappy better look out he might get a whopping and look like a fool. These boys look to be 15,16 or 17 years old when will you parents let them grow up! They have a coach to tell them what to do and they sure as crap don't need you over there distracting them. From the games I attend these days I see some lazy boys who do not try very hard, I feel they are only there because mommy and daddy want them to play, maybe they should be home watching TV! I would be willing to bet the coach is not getting paid for do the job so be thankful he has given his time to help the young people out, he could be home taking it easy. If you parents know so much get off your duff and go give some of your time or if you don't like the way your kid is being treated take him off the team and go elsewhere. When my kids came up they did their time on the bench and had to prove themselves to the coach. Let me say this in closing, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or who ever you may be DO NOT RUIN IT FOR THE KIDS, if you do some day they just might look back and say you were a control freak! One more thing, I hate I missed the fight I could have seen a ball game and a fight for one price.

    Oxford splits with DH Conley

Game 1 Conley 8 Oxford 7 Justin Blackwell got start and had to leave with sore arm in 4th. Relief pitchers could not hold lead. Up 6-3, Conley scored 2 in 5th, 2 in 6th, and 1 in 7th. We loaded bases in 7th down 8-6 and pushed 1 across, but left 3 on to end it. Gupton?(pitcher for Conley) did a nice job of putting out fire. Geoff Cash had a nice effort for Oxford in relief. Cory Hicks (2hits), Ty Breedlove(HR), Dylan Newton, Joel Adcock, Ryan Allen and Will Bullock leading hitters. Nichols for Conley leading hitter.

Game 2 Oxford 4 Conley 2 Dylan Newton got start and ran into trouble up 2-1 in 4th. Bases loaded, no outs, Patrick Whitt throws 2 pitches and we're out of it tied at 2.(FC and 6-4-3 DP) Whitt allowed no hits and got the win. Had Conley on their front foot the rest of the game. Chris Hill (2hits), Allen, Breedlove (2B), Trey Talley, Seth Lumpkins (2hits, 2B),and Blackwell ( 2hits) leading hitters. We hit the ball pretty decent all weekend (Ahoskie games included), but we left a small village on the bases in 4 games as well.

Conley is nothing but class. Those folks know baseball and understand the game. Well coached and you understand why they have a great program, year in and year out.

Up next for Oxford 6/5 at West Johnston 7PM
    overall 7-3 conf. 2-1

Great weekend. Talked to Ron the other night, and I knew it wouldn't be long before everyone started seeing the real Bulls. Too much pitching and offense for you guys not to be winning like you're accustomed to. I don't know if I'm looking forward to rematch or not. Just kidding, love playing you guys, even if it is usually not good for us.
