I have pondered what to say ever since this post originated. I have known Jim since he was 12 y/o when he first played for Oak City in a little league tournament at Enfield Academy. He played for myself and Aubrey McDaniel on a state games team that year and fast became one of my favorites. I can still recall what could have been possibly his first home run that weekend as well as a brilliant pitching performance against the Outer Banks Ospreys. We also had Jim for a couple of years on our Babe Ruth team and found him to be one of the most coachable kids as well as attitude wise one of the best we ever had the experience to be associated with. No one enjoys seeing a young man progress through the various youth programs and move on to play at the college level no more than myself. Jim and Quentin, I offer my congratulations to the both of you as you have earned this opportunity through hard work and perseverance. My prayers will be with you through your surgery later this month and I have no doubt in my mind that once the recovery period is over you will be a major factor at Belmont Abbey.

    Thanks for the great memories.

Mike, I still am not sure how Oak City got in your annual tournament in Enfield, but I thank God every day for the phone call Jim got afterwards. I can say with certainty that baseball for Jim would not have gone in the direction it has if not for that call. Thanks a million!!!!!
