The USA park is a perfect venue, but it makes way too much sense to be accepted ...

I love the USA Complex, I am out there quite a bit and hope that we will be there in July for the Eastern Junior Legion State Championships... but the only downside to the Complex is that there are no locker rooms. I don't think this would be a big deal to high schools since most of these kids are used to changing in a parking lot to start with but I do know it is a drawback when Cary bids for other national-level tournaments.

Plus, it's down the road from JM15's house... Bring it on.

Why is that? Ball players changing in parking lots. Seems to happen a lot.

It's just one of those things that "stands out" when tournaments are looking around the nation at facilities. UNC didn't seem to have a problem with it this year but it would just look a little better on paper if there was some nice air-conditioned locker room for teams and umpires to change/relax.

    Venues...

need to rotate by division around the State. Whats wrong with Hickory, Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, etc being used each year for 1 division.

Rotating would be really cool. I mean heck, do it like they do in football and play at local universities.

    What do other states do?

    USA Baseball / Cary Site

I think it was Indiana that always had their championship in Indianapolis. When they did this (or used too, anyway) all the teams and coaches HAD to stay in the same dorms at the university. This way everyone got the same experience - nobody goes home for the night. Some of the kids actually got to know some of the other kids that they would not have known otherwise. USA facility could do it the same way.

This does not address the community support - obviously a local team would have better fan support than a distant community. I am not sure there is a perfect solution - rotating fields will always make somebody travel, sometimes one team will get an advantage, and sometimes everyone will travel since you never know who will be in the finals year to year.

    Championship site

I was in Seattle last week and took the Safeco Field tour which was awesome! They were getting ready to host the high school 3A and 4A championship series. How fun would that be???
