    Lady Lightning TEAM COMBAT

I am not sure where all the 16U teams are but it is ashame that there is not more of a push for you 16U teams to go and try to qualify. You can't just rely on the ASA events in NC to try to qualify. Teams from GA, VA, SC and TN can play and against that kind of competition and only 1 berth available, they can steal that berth from NC. Plus you have no idea about the competition at Nationals unless you get out of NC and play in other states. The competition here is so deluted. Too much Daddy ball. When you get to Nationals, teams don't have weak spots in the lineup and all the pitchers are good.

WE need more teams competing so we can have more teams at Nationals. and possibly more berths available. With the State only having 2 berths you are only going to send MAX 2 team and maybe only one if you dont win the qualifier.

We were lucky last year because Lady Lightning TEAM COMBAT won the qualifier and the State but the team that finished 2nd in the state could have went and they chose not to. If you don't want to go to ASA Nationals then dont play. Give other teams that want to go a chance to qualify.

The 16A Nationals is one of the biggest recruiting venues in the US. So it kills me that every NC team is not trying to get in so you can get your players seen by all schools.

ASA 18 Gold Territory Qualifier June 6-8

NC Lady Lightning TEAM COMBAT and Carolina Legacy will be competing in the ASA 18 Gold Qualifier. This event has 83 teams in it and is loaded with talent. Not only is this a great event but this is a great recruiting opportunity. Lots of coaches have committed to be there. I know of several NC and SC schools going to this event.

Check out the brackets and keep up with NC teams. These to teams have some of the best talent from both NC and SC. Several HS represented by both teams.

Lady Lightning TEAM COMBAT has players from 4 different states. and 12 different HS. Awesome group of young ladies.

    Good luck to both teams.

    Hey John--Wait A Minute !!

Why are you so huffy about this ?? I'm offended that you think that my DD shouldn't play ASA, she doesn't want to play for Villanova,Michigan, or other big schools, but she does want to better herself to play for more closer schools. Correct me if I'm wrong can't a team that wins a berth give it to another team if they don't want to go?? Please educate me if I'm wrong Rick, Ray or other knowledgeable coaches....I think it is my DD's business what organization she plays in..We don't have a lot of money to travel all across the country, but if your interested you can fund her..LOL...!!!!

    Guru,
You are a funny man. But on this topic you are completely wrong. John is promoting NC fastpitch. He wants all of the girls to get the exposure they want to achieve by being recognized against the best talent. He did not say go play gold or A ball. It is funny how if it does not approve with Guru it is wrong. I wish the Combat team and Legacy team success this weekend, show how we play on the big stage. Cobras, Lady Blues do your job and get that berth. All the teams in Cardinal showcase I wish you the best. Point being whatever you are playing I wish you the best. We all come from different economic backgrounds and want to do what is best for our DD. You choose not to do it and that is fine. I don't believe he wanted you to play on the combat team, Lady Blues, Legacy, or even Cobras. Don't call someone out for wanting to promote NC Fastpitch. Congratulate John for wanting more exposure for our girls.

    Okay--- But REREAD !!!

Where do you see where I said I was right in my thread?? I said my DD doesn't want to play all over the country !!! And it is JC that is attacking those who don't want to..REREAD HIS QUOTE -- "If you don't want to go to ASA Nationals then dont play" Who gives anybody the right to tell others what they can play or not play ??? "You choose not to do it and that is fine" , again can't afford it, NOT A CHOSE !!! What do you mean call someone out, you have lost it....REREAD HIS THREAD..it sounds like he is calling others out.... REREAD IT !!! This sounds a little arrogant, what you think??.. "I wish the Combat team and Legacy team success this weekend, show how we play on the big stage." Do you see where I've mentioned any team names in my thread ?? And this is free what we think is the best for our DD's isn't always the best, but in our eyes we think so !!! Where do you see in my thread that I say John is wrong other than telling others what they should do or not do ???

Some points as I read through this:

At state I believe 1st and second place are births, and yes, if for some reason, the winner chooses not to go, the birth can be handed down. I saw this last year here in Oregon. What happened was the team that won the qualifier here, also won state, and handed down its option, you should have two from state. As far as the qualifier, yeah, that is a lot of good talent for only one birth.

I know when we went to the Colorado Fireworks last year, of the 7 games we had, 5 were against teams already qualified for nationals. So there are a lot of good teams there. If you think travel for nationals may not be obtainable, not all the games get seen, but the final sets of games there are another venue that have opportunities. in addition, there is a huge college "clinic" in between that tournament and the sparkler the week prior that can give folks a lot of college looks.

This sounds a little arrogant, what you think??.. "I wish the Combat team and Legacy team success this weekend, show how we play on the big stage." Why is this arrogant, isn't this the biggest stage?

JC wants more teams to go to Nationals if they can. I wish the teams that were passed the berth would go and bring more notoriety to NC Fastpitch. What is wrong with that. More notoriety brings more berths and more coaches to watch all the girls. The teams I mentioned and probably missed a few which I apologize are the ones bringing attention to NC Fastpitch. They are being aggressive in getting there girls recruited and trying to get to the largest stages: ASA Gold nationals and A Nationals in Moline, IL. I will work with my DD to get on one of these teams because this is what we choose. Some of them are fully funded and do not cost a lot of money or work fundraisers to help with cost. Good luck to all the teams this weekend.
