Yes, the ASA state should have a bid for whoever finished second behind the Carolina Cobras, because the Cobras can pass their bid down to them. I know its early but i dont see anyone else in the category of the Cobras, In my opinion no one has the depth at pitching or hitting like the Cobras. If they can go down to Simpsonville and play like that against those teams from GA then they should be the favorites.

Don't count your Cobras before they hatch.

First, let me make this statement. There is no doubt in my mind, that the Carolina Cobras have a wonderfully talented team, and should be the favorite to win the NC ASA States. The team is strong top to bottom, and they have tons of experience to boot. However.....please don't throw the Lady Blues out as swiss cheese. The National Qualifier in Simpsonville was the Blues first tournament of the season. The only three losses that the Lady Blues had in this tournament were to the teams that finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd. All three losses were close games. The Blues lost to the Atlanta Vipers, 2 - 1 in the last inning, and also lost to the Cobras, 5 - 3 in the last inning. One break here, or one break there, and well.......... who knows. That is why they play the game!

Good luck to all 18U tournaments as you venture forward with your 2008 tournament schedule.

    ASA State

Both these teams are solid teams, but you better remember the Cards have been reigning champs for several yrs. Don't know how many big guns Ray will be able to bring back from college, but they won't go down easy. Triangle Lightning also a very solid team, along with Cape Fear Storm. But with what I saw in Rock Hill the other week, the Cobras will be tough to beat.

    Cobra Question?

If my reading comprehension is correct over the years, it appears that these young ladies are most likely in their last year of travel ball before they go to play college ball.

I've read a lot about Morgan Peeler going to NCState.
Where are the other Cobras going to school? With the success they've had, I assume they are all going somewhere....

    Question....

Big congrats to the Cobras. They got it done under pressure. It was hot, hot hot, at times they were behind, and fought back. Played extra ball and winning with a HR on the last at bat. One question though, there was a young lady that was on the bench that might have been a coach. Is she a former Cobra player? I just mention this because If so this sport can always use past players to convey messages on softball through the words of a just barely older player/coach. Sometimes player can relate to some one closer thier own age and gender rather than us "grumpy old men". Who ever she is I'm glad she took the time to be with her team.

The young lady that you seen is Brittney Furr, she is a former Cobra and has just finished her freshman year at Walter State. Brittney wanted to be a part of the Cobras even though she aged out so Charlie told her to come on as a coach. Great addition to the coaching staff.

My dd makes fun of me (I'm an expert by no means) because she says she can get the young kids to understand and do in 5 seconds what takes me 2 hours.....the bad thing is, she's right.
