    Was there a Hollywood sighting?

Did anyone see Hollywood at a tournament this past weekend? I am not sure who he is but we were in Burlington and there was an ump there that was very much "into the game". No matter where you were, you could hear him calling every ball and strike and there was no doubt when there was a foul ball or an out made.

I even noticed a few girls from the other fields looking over to that field to see what was going on instead of paying attention to their own game. Not good...

I agree with several other posters on the board. The best umps are the ones you never knew were there!

    In the state AAA

....finals, had runners on 1st and 2nd, line drive off the pitcher (understand for purposes of the interference rule, the pitcher is not considered a defensive player) ball trickles towards the right side of the infield. All infielders move in towards the pitcher and ball. Runner from 1st bumps the second baseman. No call is made. After everyone checks on the pitcher, thankfully she was okay, the umps meet and call the runner from first out.

Does the call have to be made immediately and does there have to be a play somewhere? Turns out, didn't matter.
    Thanks

Only if the second baseman had a play on the ball--in the judgement of the umpire--should the runner have been out for interference.

    Do ya'll remember HARVEY???.....

.....you know, the one with the great attitude. "here we go miss batter"!!! The kids loved him! He had some "coin" for the flip at the plate to see who would be home/away, and 'ol Harvey would give it to a kid everygame! His intent was straight for the kids enjoyment of the game.

I remember Harvey. I didn't know his name, though. He was a good umpire with a fun attitude. Even though he had a really good nature, he didn't let coaches get away with a lot of jaw either.
