One down year? Care to look up when Kentucky's last final four was? March of 1998, over a decade ago.

Since UK's last final four appearance, Duke (1999, 2001, 2004) and UNC (2000, 2005, 2008) have both been to 3 final fours.

Last time Kentucky went to the final 4: The twin towers were still standing, Bill Clinton was the President, we hadn't moved in to the new millenium, Sosa and McGwire hadn't yet broken Roger Maris's single-season homerun record of 61, gas cost about 1.20 per gallon, the Red Sox and White Sox were still cursed, the Carolina Panthers had only been in existence for 2 years, the most popular TV show in the United States was Friends, the Backstreet Boys were atop the music charts, Cal Ripken's consecutive games played streak was still alive, Harry Caray had died just a month before, and Michael Jackson was black.

The Oklahoma City bombing had not occured yet, Apple computers had not yet unveiled the iMac, Microsoft was yet to release Windows 98, Google had not yet been founded, there was no Myspace or Facebook, no Pokemon, Exxon hadn't yet bought Mobil, Hugo Chavez wasn't the president of Venezuela yet, the massacre at Columbine hadn't happened, Napster hadn't made it's debut, and world population hadn't reached 6 billion people.

Tiger Woods won 1 PGA tour event in 1998, and Lebron James was a 13-year-old middle schooler. Three months after UK's last final four appearance, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls won their 6th and final NBA title. Lance Armstrong would not win his first Tour de France for another whole year.

Since UK's last title, three ACC teams: Duke (2001), Maryland (2002), and UNC (2005) have won national championships. Even UK's SEC counterpart, the Florida Gators (who are known as a football school) have brought home national championship banners (2006, 2007)

I know they are one of the top two college hoops programs of all time with UCLA, but in recent years UK basketball has been down. The stats you brought up are all-time stats and have no meaning whatsoever to UK's recent performance.

Kentucky is off recruiting 10 year olds, and already has a commitment from a 8th grader. I love how anytime you insult a team like UK or UCLA they will bring up their past success, due to the fact that they are struggling presently, well UCLA is doing great presently, but UK not so much. Kentucky is lucky to be in the weak SEC, or else they wouldn't have made the NCAA Tournament last year.

    - When was the last time an ACC team won the NCAA? When was the last time an SEC team won the NCAA?

    - How many teams from the ACC made the NCAA the past year...2 years...3 years...4 years...5 years? How about that 'weak' SEC?

    Next...

Look up the teams who have made every NCAA tourny this decade. And while you're at it, look up the winning % of the teams this decade.

We fired Tubby because he was taking the program the wrong direction. As you pointed out, being equal to UNC or Dook is not up to our standards.

Let me add: your Momma wears Army boots & my Dad can whip your Dad. Hat tip...

    This is why

I stay confused. I thought this board was about baseball (Preps). Not College basketball and football. Braves you better start getting more translaters ready. I getting ready for another run soon.

I hear ya, keep in mind my north-south comment

my comments were generalized (avg D1 squad vs avg D2 squad)

certainly a natl champ could put a few guys on a D1 squad, but no more than a few...anomalies certainly exist

better pitching than an ACC team? thats real hard to believe, but hey I never saw them in person

the bottom line is on a normal basis, a D2 team might have 4-5 guys that could play major D1, the other 20 kids wouldn't cut it
