First off Plate Dad, you confuse people way more than anybody else on this board, so you have no room to talk.

UK7Dook3 is the one who brought up the basketball anagoly, me and others are simply correcting him.

Kentucky Basketball has won 2 titles since the shot clock era began. 5 of their 7 championships were before the 1980's. Before the shot clock, before the 3-point line, before the 64-team NCAA tournament.

UNC and Duke are the only schools in america to win 3 national championships in the modern shot clock era. (UNC '82 '93 '05, Duke '91 '92 '01).

It's surprising that UK basketball is insulted by being equal to 'mortal' teams like Duke and UNC, since Kentucky is a combined 21-28 all-time vs Duke and UNC (UK is 11-8 vs Duke and 10-20 vs UNC).

Another interesting tidbit. In the same time period, since the shot clock and 3 point line began, Duke themselves have been to 10 final fours. The entire SEC combined has been to 11.

UNC has been narrowing the gap between themselves and UK on the all-time wins list, and now is just 23 behind the Wildcats. Experts project the Heels to catch UK within the next 3-5 years, if they continue their pace of winning 5-10 more games per year than UK.

UK was a great program back in the day, but they simply aren't dominant anymore. They did alot to help evolve the game of basketball in to what it is today and for that they deserve alot of credit. They helped set the table for modern powerhouses like Duke and UNC.

So, 1 good team makes a good conference. I guess if Memphis didn't pull such a big chokejob, then the CUSA would have been better than the ACC by that logic. I guess the Big12 was America's best conference, though..Three ACC teams have won a title in the past 7 years, while Kentucky hasn't even made the FF in the past 7 years. But, sure keep on living on those past titles that have nothing to do with what is going on presently. By the way, I am glad that UK will continue to play us in basketball, as it is always fun to listen to Kentucky fans talk trash before the game about why they will win, then see their team get dismantled by UNC.

 

Well UK7dook3 sums it up by his name alone. Why dont we make it UK7Dook3UNC4. When it all boils down to it its all about winning championships so say what you want, but until Duke or UNC surpases UK, you really have no ground to stand on, past or present. It's all about results and right now UK has better results within their program than both UNC and Duke.

It's seems the only people correcting him are you and UNCHeels247. Maybe your line should have meant, "One other person and I are trying to correct him, when instead he is correcting us because we know we have no ground to stand on because by the numbers, UK has a better program than UNC and Duke."

 

UK is a better all-time basketball program than both Duke and UNC. I've said that. UK is the 2nd best program all-time behind UCLA.

That wasn't what I said though. I never said UK basketball as a whole wasn't good.

They just haven't been worth anything the past 10 years.

They aren't even comparable to Duke and UNC in the modern era.

They dominated in the ancient days, when Adolph Rupp was at the helm as the coach. Like I said, Roger Maris held the homerun record more recently than UK went to the final 4.

My whole argument is that UK basketball is watered down. And it certainly is.
