    Suggestion for Posting RATIONALLY

IMHO, most posts that cause hurt are posted from a feeling of frustration or high emotion at the time of posting.

I have found that when I am tempted to send an email like this, that I am better off writing the email and then saving it to my drafts folder. If, two days later, I still want to send it - then it is probably what I wanted to say. But, I will tell you very openly, that my drafts folder is full of emails I am glad I did not actually send after waiting a day or two.

So maybe everyone should try something like this before putting something hurtful in a public forum.

    How about this........

Showcase Baseball is doing for baseball what AAU did for basketball. I hope it doesn't turn into the same corrupt machine.

That's how I see. It gets you recognized, but it's a me above team attitude. I guess this is fine, because you are trying to get noticed.

Legion ball is all about team, community, and country. But, what is happen is that with the addition of showcase ball and other sports stretching into summers, legion ball has become diluted in a lot of areas. So you may have a powerhouse team with 5-10 college signees going to play a team with a bunch of Pony Leaguers and you don't have a competitive game at all. With showcase, you have a good game almost everytime. Recruiters want to see good versus good.

The 3 teams that I am familiar with, SCP, On Deck and Dirtbags are far removed from me-first. Those kids never get an opportunity to play for them. They place character at the same level as talent

And you're still wrong, but by all means, keep repeating yourself as if saying the same thing over and over and over again will suddenly make it true.
Please stop saying things like this because I know for a fact that you are 100% unquestionably wrong. Being talented and playing well IS "good enough." It always has been and always will be. The idea that you "need" to spend extra money and sign up with one of these showcase teams to get exposure is a lie and a scam. Yes, it "may" help for kids who were injured or feel like their high school season didn't adequately reflect their talents. But for the very vast majority of players, playing showcases should only be done if the player enjoys it and wants to compete against high talent competition. Coaches already know who has talent and who doesn't, they just want to see what players can do with that talent.
I admittedly don't visit the preps forum often at all, so I have no idea about you or your background and thus can't make definitively judgments as to whether or not you have any authority to speak on this subject. That said, I know from experience that coaches absolutely will call out of the blue. Again, recommendations will be taken under consideration, but no college coach is EVER going to take a player because Random Coach said he was good. Promotion of that sort is something you sell to gullible parents, not something that actually has any significant effect on coaches' decisions. I know some very well respected coaches who frequently give out recommendations and yet rarely do those players actually get offers. It's performance that matters, not the name on the jersey or what someone says about you.
No, you don't. I'm sorry, but you're just wrong and repeating yourself over and over again won't make you correct. There are definitely benefits to Showcase baseball, but the idea that promotion is necessary to get offers or to get drafted is flat out false. Recruiting may be changing, but not in any sort of way that you're describing. What you're saying is basically that college coaches somehow no longer bother to have people go out and look at players in person, they just rely on someone with a showcase to tell them who is good and who isn't. Obviously that's nonsense.

I've played with On Deck and being the me first was far form what we were thinking. It was all about winning as a team and that's all we cared about. After playing four years of college I can honestly say that On Deck had the best teammatesthat worked together and did the right things in order to succeed as a team.

I don't know why this topic has to be a heated discussion. Maybe we could all learn something. I don't see anything wrong with passion for your beliefs as long as there are no insults. I enjoy this topic. I feel like I am learning something which is one of the purposes of this site.
