I watched THE freshman of the year.....

....in the ACC, the NCSU catcher, Allyssa Allbritton, as she set up behind the plate. Obviously, she was in the proper catching crouched position, and we could see that her shoes actually had cleats in the back. I assume she had spikes in the front.......who makes this shoe? is it more popular than full spikes or full cleats? What is the norm for college? what TB tourn. allow spikes? When is a good time, age wise to introduce spikes to your DD? .....Cmon, TBR, step up to the plate! Marlin.

    what TB tourn. allow spikes?

We played in a tournament just this past weekend in Burlington NC, WFC, that the players was allowed to wear them. During school ball, she is a catcher, and of course, she has the shin guards on, and when they would slide into her, she wouldn't think anything about it. Now, on her TB team, she plays 3rd, and when she went to block and tag....this weekend.... the girl sliding cleated her down around the ankle. We wasn't aware that metal cleats were even allowed, so she didn't think a thing about blocking to get that out. There was no damage, thank goodness, but she said it hurt like the devil, as she has her socks pushed down and her knee slider was down around her ankle also. But if it would've hit her bare leg, it could've been extremely nasty. After that, she made sure she kept them pulled up!

We were very surprised that they were allowed.

    Uncalled for...

That was uncalled for. Why would you want to call bs on someone who said they witnessed something? Are you saying there have been no injuries ever caused by metal cleats? Perhaps you haven't seen footage on TV that shows football and soccer players trying to make a cut but their cleats stayed in the ground and blew their ankles and knees out?

Oh and fish, Wikipedia says QTF is an abbreviation for Quoted For Truth. But it also says it is Quantum Field Theory and Queen's Film Theatre...

wasn't uncalled for...people get in their mind certain things are dangerous, and they're not

    AND I CALL BS

I played 4 college seasons of D1 baseball
    2 full summer leagues
    3 minor league seasons....

and......NEVER saw an injury from metal spikes (except Otis Nixon rushing the mound vs the Phillies drop kicking Mitch Williams) :wwf:

and QFT is "quoted for the truth" or DOBA "dead on balls accurate"
