    You said it!

    2 runner ups.
    3rd place.

Not bad at all. And lots, if not most, of those young men are homegrown! Doesn't that say NC is baseball strong?

RIP Tarheels. Lets go get it next year.

    Well done Tarheels!!

What are we looking at for next year....

    Shelton, Williams, and Flack graduate.

I know Fedroff, FedEx, Warren, Trice were drafted.

What about Wooten? Is he a junior, or a senior?

What are all the underclassmen who got drafted's chances of staying in school for another year?

Wooten graduates as does Trice (both were drafted).

My guess would be FedEx is gone. As for Fedroff, I would think that he would have to get a very good deal to go. As a .400 hitting soph, he has a lot of leverage if they don't give him what he wants (Purely speculation on both).

Also, for next year, I would think that it's time for Ackley to the outfield. Him and Seager would be the only guys I think that have spots locked up if FedEx and Fedroff go.

As for the pitching staff, White, Warren, and Harvey all return. If Melville doesn't get what he wants from the Royals, I think it's a realistic possibility he could start (if his stuff is as good as advertised). Some believe that White will become the closer and as we've seen, his stuff is unhittable when he comes out of the pen with enough rest.

The pitching should be very deep again next year, and that leads me to the main thing I'm disappointed in regarding this CWS. All year Carolina had been billed as the deepest pitching staff in the country. And they were. Nearly everybody on the staff had ERA's under 3 leading to the CWS. IMO, they didn't take advantage of this depth by keeping everybody fresh and using other guys. Trice and Catapano have stuff that other teams would love to have coming out of their pen, and they were not used until it was too late.

Anyways, it's been another great year for the Heels (54-14), and Fox keeps bringing in talent, so next year hopefully will be more of the same. I respect what he has done more than any other coach at the school. Dynasties like the basketball team and even the women's soccer team can bring in whoever they want, when they want. Coach Fox has built his program (which was good, but not great before) mainly on home-grown talent without a rich tradition and with very very average facilities. Moving into the new Bosh will help get kids, but not as much as those 3 CWS appearances.

You are eligible as a soph if you are 21.

He was old enough to get drafted.

Oh ok, wasn't sure what year Wooten was, and didn't realize Trice was graduating. I think it'll be key to see how many of the incoming freshmen end up signing pro deals and how many actually come to Carolina. Hopefully the stud of the class Melville will come to Chapel Hill. I'd really like to see FedEx stay around another year, and I definitely hope Fedroff does too. Carolina could have scary weekend starting pitching next year with White, Harvey, and Melville. Still have Warren back too.

I agree that Coach Fox deserves more credit than any other coach at the school. Roy Williams inherited Dean Smith's basketball dynasty and got them back to the top of college basketball, but Coach Fox is the one who's built the baseball program in to the powerhouse that it is today. Plus, Carolina Baseball has been to 3 straight "Final Fours." When's the last time mens basketball pulled that off?

It's tough to beat Carolina's trio of coaches in the major sports. The combination of Butch Davis, Roy Williams, and Mike Fox is as good as it gets in college athletics.
