Rowan gets a huge much needed league win at 2nd place Lexington-Davidson. Rowan took a 2-0 lead in the first inning to put pressure on Post 8 early. Lexington answered back and the game was pretty much back and forth with Rowan leading most of the night. Lexington took a 10-9 lead in the 7th thanks to an error by thirdbasemen Noah Holmes that allowed two runs to score. But Rowan really fought tonight and you could tell that they wanted it really bad. Billy Veal started for Rowan and was knocked out after Lexington got within 6-5 on Luke Weilhem's two run homerun to left field. LD eventually tied it that same inning. Matt Hall came in relief and held LD down and also got a double. Justin Roland made his Rowan pitching debut in the 9th inning and promptly struck out the side to preserve the RC victory. Rowan resumes their game with Statesville on Wednesday in the bottom of the 6th inning with the score tied at 5-5 with Trey Holmes batting with a 1-0 count. Rowan improves to 8-5 in Area III South play and 16-6 overall. With South Rowan's loss to Concord tonight, Rowan is in third place all alone.

I don't know the score but I know that Mooresville was upset tonight by Stanly County to receive their first league loss of the year.

    Kannapolis-12 over Statesville-11

Kannapolis wins their 3rd league game in a row, and 4 of last 5. After playing Statesville twice, I don't know how in the world they've only won 1 league game, because those boys seem to hit well 1-9 against us. We've been fortunate enough to beat them twice, but both games were highscoring.

Alex Edwards, Hunter Pate and Jacob Wright all homered for Kannapolis.

Next game is home on Thursday in a nonleague game against Concord. Then 2 big league games this weekend (both at home) with Rowan County on Friday and Mooresville on Saturday.

Durham waited until the 5th inning to start offensively, and held on for the 11-9 win to improve to 7-6 on the season, and 3-2 in conference.

Durham plays Garner tonight @ 7pm at Riverside in Durham.

    Wilson................ 10
    Edenton.............. 0 (7 inn.)

Jacob Davis hit 2 HRs to give him 7 for the year, and Justin Nygard pitched a 3-hit shutout as Wilson climbed to 5-1 in Area I East North Division, 14-3 overall. Edenton falls to 2-3, 4-3 in a well-played game that took only 1:40. Wilson battles Rocky Mount for the conference lead Thursday night at Nash Central HS.

Rowan finishes off Statesville and turns a 5-5 game into a Rowan rout. This game was the completion of Sunday night's rain out. Rowan improves to 9-5 in the division (Area III South) and 17-6 overall. Rowan has an off day tomorrow before visiting Kannapolis on Friday.

Wayne County starts on the mound against Apex a player who's not pitched any Legion games. He throws 26 pitches the first inning and gives up three runs. He throws 32 over the next four innings as Wayne wins 13-3 in five to go to 8-3.

Wayne and Pitt 39, the best programs in Area I East over the past 20 years, play Thursday night.

We have taken off too much time for graduation and the State Games.
