I was there all three days. Plus the Senior Games. There is no question that the weather caused the cancellation. And a LOT of effort was made to try to get the games in. And there is no doubt in my mind that the winner could not be predicted. But I thought they had a way to determine a winner through runs scored, runs scored against, etc. There is no doubt in my mind that whichever team received the Gold would have been entitled to it, either way. I still believe there should have only been one Gold awarded unless it was still even after applying all the factors.

However, since it has been awarded to both teams, I congratulate them both. This year's State Games were really well done again. I hope I make it to Charlotte next year. Hopefully, they'll try to outdo the last two State Games. That'll be hard to do but if they did . . . wow!

    How cool is this!!!!!....

......just "yesterday", i.e. 2007, the State games and Pop were drug all over the hot coals of the TB/HS crap. Now take a look! Posts are coming in to TBR with the subject of pure competiveness, and team unity as to who would win if...... thats cool!...and thats what Pop and the state games are wanting for our kids. PURE competition! Great job to Pops and his folks for not looking over their shoulder at the naysayers!

    You Can't Beat Mother Nature

Maybe you can't beat Her but everyone from, Mike Lambrose, UNC greensboro ground crew, coaches and even the girls from Region 3 tried the best they could.

    Greatest Show on dirt

I cannot express enough how special this event was. I met great new friends and renewed old ones. Did that make sense? Pop thank you for everything! Coach Lambrose you are at a different level than the rest of us. Your attention to every detail made all the difference. Now I know that all of the coaches were of the highest caliber but I have to give kudos to the coaches of district 5. Coach Taylor, Coach Payne, and Coach Langone. They made this a lifetime memory for my DD. They pushed to get the most but stressed having fun. One other thing they did was to have every player sign 18 softballs. At the end they gave a ball to each player so that they never forgot they played in these State Games and who they played with. These coaches expressed how special it was to coach these ladies that it made these balls even more special. I'm sure that ball will be in a glass case on my mantle until DD moves out in which case she will take it with her. It was a great event even with the rain out.

The teams played in different pools so there is no common way to do a tie breaker for the gold, no common opponents so therefore runs scored and against have no bearing.

OK, yeah. Thanks. Maybe some day soon these games will be prestigious enough that a tie won't be an option.

    Great action shots!!

Constance Orr appears to be well off the ground with both feet and the ball hasn't been released. Is that legal?

No it's not... The more agressive pitchers, that is the ones that throw hardest and get maximum spin on the ball, often have this flaw in their delivery. It's difficult to get the maximum out of the lower body and keep that foot down. The ones who figure it out are true masters. Orr is very good. I'm sure her college pitching coach will help her figure it out.

First picture, Region 4, the girl on the far right. That's Caitlin Sandy from Jack Britt. Keep an eye on her--she is awesome! And she knows it (so let her parade a little)!!
Second girl from left--Jessi Lane, Harnett Central. Keep an eye on her bat--you'll be hearing more about her!
