    player from NJHS

Saw Amanda Sharpe of North Johnston HS - 1A listed on the on east seniors' team.

Is Amanda moving on to any college ball?

The rules say the back foot must remain in contact with the ground, if not, it is considered leaping. Most umpires will not call an illegal pitch as long as the back foot is pointed down, as Constance's is.

I know both feet can't remain on the ground but I thought the rear foot had to remain on the rubber until the ball is released. I know they used to let them get away with the foot coming off the rubber a little as long as it was dragging the ground. But she is clearly leaping. That's what I was questioning. That is definitely an advantage to be able to do that! Wow!

The rules state that the pivot foot may remain in contact with the rubber, or may push off and drag away from the rubber prior to the front foot touching the ground, as long as the pivot foot remains in contact with the ground and within the width of the rubber. Also, pushing off from a place other than the rubber is illegal.
