Ok. I was talking about the price, not how much I drank. I never thought I would see the day that a free drink of water would be a thing of the past.

Just because they say you can't take your water in doesn't mean you can't. I'm living proof of that. The greed of tournament directors makes me crazy. If they tell me I can't take a bottle of water in I refuse to spend a dime in the concession stand. :MEpmsHL:

I never thought I'd pay for a drink of water either. If it gets a little higher, gin and tonic will be my only drink of choice.

Now now preak, a human stomach...

......on empty is .08 liters,...about the size of a fist. A gas tank in my Suburban is 47+ gallons. You do the math.....4 x 47 =188....... stomach we'll round up to 1 gallon, a small bottle of H2O is 2 bucks, and it takes 6 of them to make a gallon....=$12/gallon.
Comet is RIGHT, water and air should always be free! Or atleast understood at outside events that its a necessity for survival and should not be a traded commodity controlled by supply and demand...or temperature at the ballpark! Prof. Marlin.

    Now you're talking!.......

.......gin =$4/shot...tonic mixer $0. The way were going, if we were to add a splash of water the drink price would clip $5!

    first paragraph- dead on

second paragraph, I take issue with. Saying 8u and 10u should not travel because of fuel makes little sense. They need to be in the environment asap, and it breeds better players the sooner they see the tourny envioronment, and level of competition. Pile in more cars, share more hotels, eat cheaper, etc but there are kids that NEED to be playing travel ball at 8-10....otherwise they... and the game will suffer not playing the best competition.

its all relative, we'll be used to 4.00 gas before you know it.

I take great issue with your comments about 8U and 10U.

First of all, I have not introduced softball to my 9 year old daughter for scholarship purposes. I introduced softball and sports to my daughters due to the life lessons they can learn on the field and from being part of a team.

Perhaps your thoughts reflect your goals of playing tournaments for scholarship purposes, but they do not reflect my thoughts. My 9 year old plays tournaments to play with girls of equal interest, equal commitment and equal talent for excellent coaches and they play for the love of the game.

If my daughters were playing softball only for the scholarship, I would be better served to let them sit home and study math problems all weekend - that is the cheapest route!

The price of gas in SC is misleading unless you spend the time to find a NON-ethanol station. @10% ethanol - as most pumps in SC are - you will find your gas mileage drop 10-15%.

I drive >35,000 miles per year and used to make a point of getting gas in SC before returning to NC. I check my mileage every tank and make a game of getting better mileage. I lose 4 mpg when I drive on SC gas(unless I can find non-ethanol gas).

Also, I try to stay at 65mph or lower - the savings in MPG is tremendous. I am still constantly amazed when people drive past me, obviously driving 75-80mph, figuring gas is not too expensive for them. Anyone that tries to post that they get better mileage or it makes no difference at higher speeds is really fooling themselves.
