who cares....he will never be my bud, but I sure liked his family friendly policies at the ballpark. The Braves and the Hawks were just toys for him....and he never tried to bilk the fans

Crosley was cool, wasn't it? We used to ride the train to Cincy & walk a couple miles to the Park.

Rocky Nelson (Pittsburgh Pirate mostly) was good friend of our family. So he took me in the clubhouse a couple of times. I got to meet one of the greatest of them all, Roberto Clemente.

One of my favorite memories was the time Rocky came out of the dugout, knowing we were there. Dozens of kids were hawking autographs...but he scanned the crowd & motioned for me to come...shook my hand & gave me an autographed ball. All the kids just gawked in envy. I was the MAN!

Pete: Before his rookie year, he was a member of the Reds Caravan that travels to local communities to promote the Reds. (Fred Hutchison, Nuxxy & Waite Hoyt were along too). My Dad was Pres of Kiwanis who hosted the event. So I sat next to Pete at lunch. Burr haircut, square jaw, & short confident answers. Yep...cocky no doubt. But I was his #1 fan from then on. I named my son Ty because Pete named his son Peter Tyler Rose after Ty Cobb. Made sense to me. He ought to be in the Hall...

    He said what?

I like what each had to say about the other. Maddux says, "that guy can catch!"

Carlin said, "Maddux is like a scientist out there. He knows everything about the swing."

    Both are class A1 prime.

Maddux gave him an autographed game ball for #350..

    Outstanding.

one of our closest family friends has a ton of land that backs up to his in Montana. Not only that, but their offices are next door to eachother. He says that Ted Turner is an absolute donkey and that Tina still comes around........hmmmmmmmm

about his family friendly policies....he had no choice but to pay people to come to the games.
