I'm sure Coach Holbrook would not take credit for going to the CWS the last three years, and certainly he's not the only reason, but his ability to recruit, combined with the way he relates to players, makes this a tremendous addition for USC. No doubt he will make a great head coach when the time comes. I hate it for the Tar Heels but am happy for Coach Holbrook's opportunity.

most coaches also have deals with bat companies, glove companies, clothing or shoe companies and earn additional money to the reported contract amount. Also summer and winter camps are revenue producers although most of that goes to the assistants.

    goal

Surely a goal for Coach Tanner before he hangs it up would be to win a CWS, but then again that could be said for a huge number of Div 1 coaches.

Coach Fox is a few years older than Tanner, but you never really know what to expect from coaches and pro athletes as far as late career changes and retirement.

In my opinion, the Gamecock's program just got better. Chad Holbrook was one of the most impressive young coaches that I ever met. It's a perfect situation for Chad and for his family.

By the way, the administraive position that his wife held at UNC is open at USC. I'm sure the position is hers if she chooses.

Good luck to the Holbrook family:clapclap::satana:

Avent did get a raise however it is true that some assistant coaches at USC (and other SEC schools) make more than ACC head coaches.

That's because the schools in the SEC appreciate what their baseball coaches are achieving and the money they are bringing in.:clapclap::clapclap:

warm & next HC down the road sometime

is warmer climate a factor in overall success with SEC programs, especially attendance?

...........and now (realizing this is likely too far out there in the future to predict) if Holbrook continues doing well, could he have his pick of next HC at USC or UNC, whichever comes up first???? just saying...............maybe, who knows??

Probably, but it appears that Tanner's intentions will open his position first.

The pay difference between the two programs will be substantial as well. Unless our Athletic Department ceases to take our coaching staff for granted.

Chad is a great coach and a great recruiter but he is even a better person. He will be sorely missed at Carolina. He has made a tremoundous difference to those he has coached, both on and off of the field.
