Dirtbags are playing to win. There is no gaurantee that you will play at East Cobb, and you know that before you go.

    North Canes win two today

Hurricanes 5 Houston Kyle Champman 1
    Hurricanes 3 Arkansas 0

Complete game wins by Ethan Carter and Blake Hauser

Jeff Petty's text message: "those two kids really stepped up" Clemson signee Will Lamb hit the first pitch of the day for a home run to dead center which really set the tone as offensively they all hit enough to win."

I understand that. By why go if you don't even show your stuff for 3 innings? You spend 1500.00 approximately for the week to say you are part of a team that wins with players from all over? Sure, you get another plaque but how did you contribute?

I know they want to win. And I know they are explained the deal before they go or fly in town. I just thought if you flew in for this thing and spent all that money you might get a couple of innings in.

    1) Who said they weren't playing?
    2) Many of the "14" are 2-way players

    Whats the big deal?

From to do not know gallery.

Here something new. How would the "Guys that know" rate the teams that the Carolina teams played against. Who had the pool with the highest rated teams. 1-10. I am sure I will hear how do you rank them? I do not know, you do. As I was told. The East Cobb teams have two stub teams the rest are feeders. Looking at some of the results. Agreed. So who played the teams that are strong and solid and return and finish high year after year. Look forward to being bashed on this one. But it is a Plate Dad question. :weihnacht2:By the way Merry Christmas.

Then that helps explain it. I was under the impression they were pitcher only guys. Thanks.

There is no "big deal". Just trying to understand and learn more. Hey, if that is what some kids wants to do, fine. I could care less. Just trying to learn.

You definitely gotta love it. These Hampton Inns can get old.

One Putt- many of those players have been down there for two weeks participating in both tournaments. I know 14 arms appears to be a lot, but if a team is fortunate to make it to the championship game, they will need every arm.

As far as the cost, outside of hotel rooms (most of which is spread among 4 players to a room) there is no additional cost to the players. The $1,500 entry fee is paid by the team.

Potentially, the only players that may not get playing time would be a pitcher, but that is extremely rare. Most pitchers get 3-5 innings, so generally everybody gets in. Usually the one's that bow out early in the tournament and may not have had all their pitchers throw are position players.

It's been my experience that there is only two tournaments all year that teams don't treat as a typical showcase....and both happen to be PG WoodBat tourneys...the one in the summer at East Cobb and the one in the fall in Jupiter. Every tournament, teams are wanting to win, but it is not their no. 1 priority. But in these two events, winning is the priority and decisions are made with that goal in mind. In these two events, even college coaches won't request a coach to play or pitch a certain player they are scouting. They understand that the team's focus is on winning.

That explains a lot. I was getting the impression that East Cobb and Jupiter were events to win, a little different from a typical showcase. I also didn't realize everyone was sharing rooms. that implies that parents don't always come in. I was looking at costs being meals, airline ticket/car and gas/rental car, and hotels. Thanks for further explanation.

Some parents do. They'll treat it like a vacation. Some parents come for the weekend only...and some don't or can't come at all. I know the players are very happy when the parents come and I can't blame them. Can you imagine living in a hotel room with 3 other teenagers for a week?...think Animal House :satana:
