Yep. I believe the last time without PC or WC was 1990, when Wilson defeated Snow Hill 3-1 and then lost to Johnston Co. 4-2 for Area I. I think a shuffling of divisions is in order, as well, although I would favor doing away with the divisions entirely.

Travel is the main problem with returning to the old order. It used to be worse when Wayne would have to travel to Roanoke Rapids, Edenton and Ahoskie.

I believe we'll see an adjustment in the schedules next season. Our people have been talking about having teams play each other three times if we're going to keep the North and South.

If we eliminated the divisions, I would favor Wayne playing Edenton and perhaps Ahoskie in DH's each year to reduce travel. Several possibilities exist, and I am not wedded to any of them.

But let's be honest. The North has the worst two programs in the league.

And for the folks in the west, there is a good chance Wayne will head there for a weekend series with one of the big boys. But nothing is set yet. We're just talking amongst ourselves.

    Needs Updates

Roxboro at Clayton (Smithfield-Selma HS) Game 2

North Raleigh at Apex - Game 2

Edenton defeats Kinston (at Kinston) to win best of three 2 games to 1

Anyone have any results on the above two games? Thanks

    Apex v. N Raleigh

Apex beat North Raleigh by a big score in the second and final game of that series. Don't know the exact score, but it was something like 17 to 5. Apex awaits the winner of the Durham/Benson series, which begins on Tuesday night.

Apex won, according to an email sent to me by the commissioner. Kinston losing practically guarantees the Pitt-Wayne winner is going to Gastonia.

In talking with me before our game there, one of the Garner players said Moe got out in part because the dedication of the players is not what it was, that they showed when the spirit moved them. That's just one player's take. Only three players from Garner HS?

If the "powers that be" in Legion would do something about the "population" rules, then perhaps those "worse" programs would have a chance at some players who could be an asset.

I am not up on the "population" rules. How would a change better the fortunes of the teams in the northeast? What's going to make Edenton (decent program) Ahoskie and Edgecombe County competitive to the point where they can compete for league titles?

    do you suppose....given ...
quote...."Kinston losing practically guarantees the Pitt-Wayne winner is going to Gastonia." unquote
that new bern should even bother playing their series or just save the gas money and contribute towards pitt/wayne winner's trip to gastonia....i used to think..."that's why they played the game"
