Couldn't agree more! It only lasts so long. Will worry about how far in debt we are after they are done playing ball and out of college!

    Hey maddog...

You must have not ever had to play any tournaments in Concord, you have to give them a blood sample and promise them your first 10 trophies, to get in there!! LOL And don't be thinking you can bring your coffee in with you, cause you can not, not coffee, not your left over drink from lunch, not a cooler, nothing! And they do a search of any bags you take in!! LOL
It is only now, that you can take coolers into these tournaments, because back when my DD started playing TB you could barely get a blanket to cover up with, or sit on in!! LOL
I do feel your pain though, the first time we went to Florence and they asked for the gate fee, we went to the nearest bank and took out a loan to pay it too!! LOL

Played alot in Concord when the girls were 12U (seems like yesterday) and you are right you could not take any outside food in. But we would put our drinks and snacks in our chair bag with the chair and they never checked it. I heard that they have relaxed a little now and will let you bring in outside food and drinks.
But anyway it does not matter how much the gate fee is or what you can or cannot bring into the park we all are going to pay to watch the girls play and the parks and rec people know that.

Ten dollar gate and three dollar parking for HS state championships is reasonable. Those games are full seven inning games with no time limit and the infields are drug between games. Three umpires are used (as they should be). The profits are used to help fund the NCHSAA, which monitors everything about high school sports. The only downside was the poor lighting, temporary fences, and worn out condition of some of the fields.

The State Games charged $5.00 gate plus a $45 player fee and played in a facility that was totally at the next level... a grounds crew that kept the field perfectly watered and groomed for each game, professional sports med. person on duty, good umpires, no time limits, and an announcer. And, they provided uniforms that the players could keep. Quite a bargain.

The TB tournaments are meant to be money makers... and they do make big money. Getting information on where the money goes is probably impossible. The mindset of the organizers is... lets pack in as many teams as we can attract, then create time limits and speed up rules so we can get it over as soon as we can.

    you figure it out.

The Hot times at Florence charged $9.00 per day and the Tourney director said it was all going to the Florence park and rec dept.
The Florence park and rec official at Freedom told me they have two set fees for the gate, $4 ans $6 for different types of facility use and that any amount beyond that goes to the tournament people. I have no idea who is correct but it bothers me knowing that SOMEONE is lying about how the gate fees are allocated. ..............Just saying...........
Does anyone on here know the real story?
On a positive note there were a ton of colleges their and I had five coaches stop me after games asking about a lot of my kids. so bottom line is I feel it was worth it.

No water coolers provided in the dugouts was ridiculous as well as dangerous in this type of weather! Rain delay Saturday ,rain stopped ,sun came out,1 1/2 hours later field crew showed up to fix field. DOC inmates working around 16 -17 year old girls????? and outrageous gate fees made me extremely dissappointed with who ever was responsible. I hope it was Parks and Rec dept.
Great umpires and met some great coaches who were enjoyable to compete with.

Don't think for one minute that the tournament director is going to hand over every dime he makes off of gate fees to the parks and rec department. The park and rec official is telling the truth. Think about it he would have no reason to lie. That is a pretty nice profit for the fat cat TD don't you think?

    Hello....McFly....

    It's a business.....

What choice do you have.... sit in the parking lot...

At the NC HS States, depending on what gate you went in, college coaches, which are usually given complementary tickets had to pay also....
we figured out quick which gate didn't charge.....

I have no problem with the cost like I mentioned in the post but I do have a huge problem with hearing two different stories. I guess in just old school and dont like to be lied to
