I do wish every young man in the Charlotte area had an opportunity to experience this. Although I am a showcase advocate, this experience can not be duplicated:

"Let me give you an example of what every legion program and/or community should strive for if you have a baseball team,,,,,,,, last night I was at a game between Rowan County and Mooresville, 2nd round of the state playoffs, there were 3 radio stations there, 2 separate newspapers, an estimated 900-1000 fans, and the winner's portion of the half-n-half was $384.

Young boys grow up in those 2 communities dreaming to be a part of that someday..."

I'm trying to figure out why a college scout would be really looking at a 2010 16yr. now. When is the 2011 & 2012 Showcase?

 

They'll be some scouts there just not like for the 18u and 17u events. Dont think 2010's only ones playing for Legion in playoffs right now.

 

Agree 100%. Just think posts saying any kid should've done one or the other is nonsense. Each to his own.

Baseball Scouting...

....is all about "relationships". The sooner a kid knows you want to "date", the more likely you are to get a "date". Besides.....officially, a coach cannot talk to a player until July 1 of his rising senior year.

Summer vacations - why not stop by a ballpark and see some games - it's fun! Get a roster, chat with old friends and new acquaintances and later, invite the 16 year-old to your baseball camp. Who knows, he might even like the way you speak better than he likes the way the other fella looks.

Ah to hang one's livelihood on the whims of teenagers.....

Bottom line - scouts/recruiters have a job - find baseball players. I saw a kid at the Babe Ruth Tournament in Tarboro - and guess what - I think he needs a "date".
