Plate Dad -- this is straight from Perfect Games website just so you know schools are looking at players earlier and earlier

Several College Programs Represented at 16U Tournament
PG Staff 7/15/2008 6:00 PM
It appears that there are many college coaches in attendance here on opening day of the 16U WWBA tournament. Just from observations at the tower and the front gate we have noticed that the following programs have come to the East Cobb Complex for day one the tournament:

Louisiana State University
University of Virginia
Boston College
University of South Carolina
Clemson
Georgia State University
High Point University
Troy State University
Virginia Tech
Pepperdine University
West Virginia University
Southern Illinois University

Clearly there are several schools getting a jump start on targeting future players for their programs here on day one of the tournament. It is likely that we will several more college programs with a coach in attendance at the complex (not to mention those that go to outlying fields) throughout the rest of the tournament

Unless you've been down to East Cobb or Jupiter you just cant appreciate the scene and how big an opportunity there is to be seen.

The 09

class is this springs seniors. Many have already verballed and alot will soon this fall. The college coaches are getting a look at the 10's as soon as they can. The recruiters that get out early will have a better idea of who to contact via mail and build a file on. Alot of times it comes down to who was the first to show interest in you that goes a long ways. You can bet the Clemson and SC coaches were all over the teams from SC getting a look at the home town boys. And you better believe they were checking out the NC teams as well. There is nothing like getting out there and IDing the players before your competition. This is exactly what college coaches are trying to do. SC is notorious for getting on guys early and offering early. It is one reason other programs have stepped it up in recent years.

The 2010 class is in the process of being IDed. Most of the top 09's are already known by these programs. With WWBA events its an opportunity for college coaches to see alot of talented players in one venue over an entire week of games. When you tell people that the scouts outnumber the fans they look at you like you are crazy. But its simply the truth. If you have never been to the Jupiter event you need to go at least one time if your a true baseball fan. Its a great event and great baseball as well.

I think Clemson is tired of getting scooped in SC by Univ of SC. The 17u Diamond Devils team that won the 17u has a minimum of 6 SC 2009 commits and zero Clemson .

Yeah

when they lost Coach O'Sullivan at CU they lost a guy that was the back bone of their recruiting success. SC gets on guys early and they are relentless. They do a great job of IDed young players that can really play. They wrap them up before others have a chance in many cases. CU is probaly trying to stem the tide. They better.

Thanks, but we lost this morning 9-2. We out hit SC Bombers 9-6 and even hit 2 HR's, but pitchers walked 10 batters. Can't do that and compete. Must win tommorrrow against very good team from Texas. Good luck to you all tonight.

Brian Lincoln (Millbrook) 1-2
