    Dirtbags win again

Dirtbags 10-2 win today over New Jersey Jags don't have coaches quote today as I am in Virginia Beach umpiring the Hurricanes World Series at ODU, CNU, VA Wesleyan and Norfolk State......anyone have game details to add? I believe Jake Guyec got the win.

Freddy Suggs hosting the Anglers Showcase at Elon told me that the day went basically perfect and the Next Level Legends had a big slugfest with the Mid Atlantic Grads 18-10 which made the Maryland crowd very happy. 4 games were played today at Elon whch is a beautiful place to play. Lots of college coaches were in attendance and more expected on Saturday and Sunday.

    NC Teams

Does that put 4 NC based teams in the final 32? Megastars , Dirtbags , Cubs and SCP's? If so what a statement for the NC teams. And that could quite possibly mean we could have some NC match ups in the next round or at least in the round of 16. Talk about intense. Good luck to all the NC teams still in this tourney. I would love to see a final four of all NC teams in this thing.

Did the Heat make the round of 32? And did any other NC teams advance?

Think its just the Dirtbags, Cubs and SCP. SCP and Hurricanes headed toward a sweet 16 matchup. Cubs are facing one of the best 16u teams in Palm Beach County PAL. They are good.

    Good luck to all!

How is Jonathan Holt doing? Local player we don't seem to hear about.

    Megastar 2010's Last Two Games

    Game 4 Highlights
We started out very well going up 1-0 after the first inning as we get them 1,2,3 in the first and get good hits from Hager, Baker and Haag. Then the wheels start to fall off...the error bug that we got away with in the first game (4 errors) caught up with us in the second inning of this one. In what should have been a 1,2 4 inning (3rd batter had a nice gb single thru the right side), we make 3 errors on groundballs to the middle infielders in one frame along with two hit batters. This team from south Miami is hard to challenge on the inside of the plate as they are standing on the dish and will take the hit batter as a good play. The cow bells are all ringing now and the atmosphere is a bit different than your average NC game. Not sure, but we may have been rattled a little by the different atmosphere. (Good learning experience, if nothing else.) Now we are down by 4, 5-1 in an inning we should have gotten out of without giving up any runs. We get two back to cut the score to 5-3 by the end of the third. In the top of the fourth, the error bug comes again. We get two quick outs, and then we make three more errors to go with another hit batter. We field the ball cleanly but cannot seem to make a throw to the receiver or we boot the ball and can't recover in time...bad time for a bad game.

    Game 5 Highlights
We start out very well going up 8-1 with everyone hitting well. Little pitching well. Then the error bug comes back again. Shortstop makes two more errors, making 9 errors from the shortstop position in 5 games. We get two more runs in the fifth to go up 10-3. We reshuffle the infield looking for a new combination. New pitcher comes in and struggles - loading the bases on three straight walks. He is replaced and the third pitcher, Alberts, does well getting a line out to Baker (now playing shortstop for the first time) to prevent anyone from scoring, a fly ball to right allowing one to score, and a ground out to George (now playing second) ending the inning. In the sixth, they start to hit the ball to go with a couple of walks and we hang on for the 10-7 win.

    End the tourney 4-1.

I understand from other DB parents that he hit well last week. He's always hit pretty good. Not sure about the leather.
