    Answer

Once you play in "championship play" in any division you are locked to that roster. The key in ASA's eyes is championship play.

    Well

You can play Showcase ball but no A level ASA qualifier, states, regular ASA
tournaments, etc for that season. Correct if I am wrong fans but I believe the fall you can fall back and play in all tourneys if you are not playing Gold with a team.

In other words, once Gold as a player, not always Gold. Oh has any NC teams qualified for Gold Nationals? May have been answered already but have not heard from John Corn lately and how they are progressing.

Another Gold question for ASA Directors, etc. What does the future hold for 18U A ball? College Coaches are attending the 16U Nationals and Gold Nationals but the last two years, the 18U A National tournaments have had light attendance, 20 or so coaches. With early committments at D-1's are we losing the coaches? I would love to hear from college coaches as well. Expense is becoming a huge factor and I want to do what is best for my families.

    Correct

Once you have played with a Gold team in a Qualifier you can not be released to another team in any age division until after Nationals.

You can how ever pick up with another Gold team in the Region to play at GOLD Nationals.

Unfortunately we did not Qualifier this past weekend. We finished 5th in Chattanooga. We had a great season and definitely played where we belonged. The Competition is awesome and the pitching and hitting is at the top level.

WE are looking forward to next season, returning most of our players to get a berth.

    Gold Qualifiers?

The field is complete; no NC teams. I understand the Chaos (MO) has some NC kids. Not sure what the genesis of this deal is but I'm sure some on this board do.

In my view the ASA needs to prohibit college players (not committed players but those who already played their freshman year) from Gold teams while, at the same time, promoting regional tournaments for teams composed of college players.

    WHAT???

Many colleges want their eligible players to be competitive during their summers so they seek out programs that are going to play gold quite a bit. Also, many gold teams have JUCO players on them that are still looking to move to a 4 year school and need to be seen by the coaches as well.

I'm very aware of both circumstances

If there were quality 23U teams it would serve both purposes . . . college players playing against college players instead of playing against 16 and 17 year olds. Also, allow college coaches to see go to Golds not see teams dominated by players that they cannot recruit.

This doesnt make sense. Why should an 18yo not be able to play whether she is in college or not. Is ASA Gold only reserved for college bound players? Is it only a tool for college coaches to see these players. What about DII and DIII Freshman?

A 23U program would be nice to see grow.

    Whoa; that's pretty tough

Just stating my opinion. I thought that's what these forums were for. People are certainly free to disagree with me and often do. No one forces you to read my posts. Don't like them; don't read them. Evidently, that you will make you a happier person.

My perspectives are a bit different since I have worked in higher education for 25 years and understand the student-athlete experience and coaching in a way different from many parents. I'll leave it at that other than to say that your dispersion of my screen name only demonstrates that you don't have a clue regarding it's derivation.
