    Sounds like a slam dunk . . .

Can't argue with any of this. Like has been pointed out above nothing's final 'till the ink dries. Curious . . . is this Princeton (don't know the coach) or Hofstra (know the coach)? Can't think of any other NE schools with consistent tournament appearances except maybe Lehigh, UMass or Albany. In all cases send her to school with some hand warmers!

Congratulations and start saving for those trips!

She's going even further North than that. About 15 minutes from Canadian border in Buffalo, NY to Canisius College. It is a small, private D1 school in the MAAC conference. While they have made 9 appearances in the NCAA regionals, they have yet to make it any further than that (they drew Arizona for their first game this year). Her dream, of course, is to hopefully make a contribution that will help them move further into the playoffs! She loves the cold weather (why, I have no idea) and of the four colleges that she made unofficial visits to, all but one were up north. Like most cold-weather teams, they travel south quite a bit in the spring, so at least we will get a chance to see her play then. Thanks for the good wishes.

    Saw Canisius Play . . . .

this past March at the JMU tournament. They have nice team. It's a great school! Small classes and great teacher/student ratio. If she isn't familiar with the term "lake effect snow" she will be!

    Mods... hello...

Last time I checked, this was a place to talk about softball...
It is also a place to disagree if you so desire.....
but it is not a place to bust someones chops, just because you can...

If you disagree, let em know...but don't bust someone's %#@ just to do it.

Last time I checked, Canisius is in Buffalo, which is on the lake, and they do have Lake Effect Snow....

This board is not a place that we attack fellow posters. I have gone back and read the prior posts of this person. I've noticed a number of times they have had their posts deleted and have attacked others. Let them find another place to go. It's not wanted here.

Been There, Done That, Hope to do it again

Advice from those who have been through the process should be taken. Every player and situation is different. What works for one may not work for another. The best you can do is to BE INFORMED. Official visits do just that. Hearing all offers does too.
My oldest DD wanted to wear baby blue forever, had a good offer from there, had several TB teammates commit there. Fortunately she wanted to see what other options were available and looked with open eyes. I was somewhat shocked when she chose Elon. It was the best decision she ever made (except picking me to be her dad). There are many factors to consider, take time to make the right decision. One thing I will add, We as parents did not try to influence her decision. We allowed her the opportunity to act as an adult and choose her own path.

why do some people always assume athletics deters from academics? Its such a straw man stance.

if it weren't for sports, I would NOT OF GRADUATED from college...Study Hall, tutors, coaches, teammates, GPA requirements, etc provide plenty of peer pressure to get good grades. College athletics was the best thing for me at 18- to give structure.

Many regular students flunk out of college because of the temptations, freedom, and downtime. If you play a sport, that rarely happens.

My DD had her heart set on going to college x because it had the best program for what she wants to major in. Originally, she wasn't planning on playing ball but then the coach from that school started talking to her and everyone could tell she really wanted to continue playing. She then got interest from another school but her heart was set on school x.

Short version is we got lucky. She is going to the school she wants to and is going to have a chance to play ball.

As much as it pained us, we as parents did the same as fastpitchndad. It was her decision to make and we let her make it.
