The second best Little Tar Heel team in the state that year lost in the districts finals . Just imagine how far a combined Rocky Mount team may have advanced in say, Little League Regional and National competition.

 

Unreal comeback win for the defending state champs

Today Shelby downed Erwin and Rocky Mount defeated Siler City to leave only these 2 teams as the undefeated teams. They will face off tomorrrow with the winner advancing to the championship game.

Rocky Mount was down 5-1 with two outs in the top of the 6th when David Williams made it 5-3 with a two out two run single and then 3 batters later 11 yr old Tyler Barrow hit a grand slam to win the game 7-5.

 

What a great team you guys had

Had this team not lost in the District finals my bet is that sales of BUCKETS in this country would have reached all time highs.

 

And amazingly Stretchy that bucket is one of my most prized possessions. In my trophy room it is prominently displayed along with trophies, autographs, baseball cards etc.

Definitely does not seem like nine years has passed since that memorable season.

Shelby defeats Rocky Mount twice today to win the Little Tarheel State Championship. Scores 12-2 and 7-5.

 

Top Gun Travel Team Tournament

Congrats to a very powerful Wilson Pelican 10u team as they won the Top Gun tournament at the Rocky Mount Complex. They went 4-0 on the weekend and gave up very few runs. Great team and coaches.

I had the dad of an 11 year old boy come to me and ask me to watch him pitch and asked to look at his curve.
