Even though Carley is the only player I know from that team I was nervous like my own daughter were playing. Amanda Storch really settled down in that game. I thought a one point she ws about to break down. She didn't and got better as the game moved on. ONE MORE WIN GIRLS!!

it was an intense games. one of the best, if not THE best games I ever saw on that field, and I have seen some. The outfield for the Latin A team was dynamic.

your right, when Amanda, cut off the centerfield throw that would have cut the tieing run, that ended up scoring, she was struggling not to break into tears. but she did pull it together and her team rallied behind her. also a note, a well managed game by the coaches. pulling the starting pitcher, and throwing Carly for one inning, allows Carly to still pitch tomorrow, but allowed them to use the Amanda into the 10th inning. you can only pitch 9, in one day or outing (so Carly will only be good, for 8 tomorrow, if it goes that long). but the LA team, in inning 10 had to go to their #3. SC struggled a little with the slower speed, and the ump was giving, waaaay off the outside corner ( I was sitting right behind the plate).

I talked to Amanda's mom a bit, what a spark plug. I told her tell the coaches and the team you all were watching. My wife is going down to the finals tomorrow (today , your time lol), to hang with them and cheer them on. Dad was sweating bullets.

They radared carly in the high 50's with one pitch hitting 61. Amanda was more like the mid 50's and up a little. the LA #3 was throwing in the high 40's, so to me, this looked pretty correct.

It was certainly exciting and a lot of people hung out a long time. great stuff.

and no, no international tie breaker in LL.

oh and I was told Carly is 6-2. not sure, but who cares, big girl. I hope she is ok. she slipped going after a ball and did a weird split. she had trouble getting back up and was stretching at first the rest of the game. It looked to me she strained something in her inner thigh or something.

I watched one inning of the East/Central game last night. Got to laughing so hard had to turn it.

    GRASS infield?????????????????????????????

Now I know I will get bashed for this comment but come on now, the shortstop and secondbase wearing a game face. I can see the pitcher, first and thirdbase but short and 2nd. Some of them kinda looked freaky with the game face and sunglasses. Maybe they should just all go to wearing one of these.

I watched the game on tv and enjoyed the competition.

If they want to wear protective equipment that's fine with me. I noticed all of them had on gloves or mits. Back in the old days they didn't wear gloves. Then someone started using pieces of leather . . .

    That was funny.

I saw one team (not last night), even the outfielders were wearing face masks, sorry, I draw the line there. thats just, in the way.

its a grass infield because before the ws started being played (yes, the field is that old), it was used for LL baseball only. it is odd though, I will absolutely agree to that.

Those speeds on Carley if not accurate are very close to it. There are days when she is a little faster than that. Consistently I have gotten her at that 60 number. Normally when we play the tougher teams in travel ball she finds a extra gear. Hopefully that will happen tonight. I saw her a little nervous for the first time last night. The speed reading they had on Amanda was 52-55 I think I remember seeing a couple of 57'. Late in the game she stayed around 52. She seemed to be more effective at that speed than she was early in the game.

On TV it looked like the ump had a really low strike zone. Several were below the knees.

They listed Carley at 6-1 on TV last night. That maybe stretching it a bit.

I would agree with those speeds, just looking.

a parent told me she was 6-2, and yeah, I thought that as a stretch, but ahh, not much of one, lol.

I think the face masks have become a bit of a fasion statement. Like wearing slidere on your feet between games. But if the player likes it that is all that matters and if it helps them be even a bit more agressive fielding all the better.
Oh and the welders helmet does NOT meet nocse standards as of yet but is still undergoing further testing.

We haven't had Carley for well over a month and she won't return to us until the end of August. So she is following that rule.
