Many of the softball parents have just sent their DD away to college. This is a great day and, at the same time, a sad day. Mothers seem to take this day a little harder than the dads, but that doesn't mean ole dad isn't having a hard time also. I know I had tears in my eyes when I left my oldest DD at college and I will have tears in my eyes for my youngest.

This day should make parents proud also. If you have raised them to this point and they are going to college you can bet you have done a lot of things right.

The larger softball family will help take care of them now, but, as they probably will find out sooner than later, it is hard to beat ole mom and dad.

    AMEN to that...

It is indeed a proud and sad day! All three of us cried on that day, when we moved everything into the dorm room and got everything set up in the dorm room and went to leave. That is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. Leave my baby girl at a place and drive away! But she and we survived and she is now on to the rest of her life! She will always have us to come to, rely on and trust in and she knows this! We are proud of the woman she has grown into and we will always be proud of her! She gives us reasons to be proud every minute of her life!

I can comply with you...leaving your daughter is a really hard thing to deal with but eventually things will settle down and both your lives will adjust..We lost our DD to college 4years ago...she finished her softball career last year at Brevard College(very sad day for both her mom and me) and presently she's doing her internship earning her a degree in education...The hardest thing for us was getting her throught the freshmen year-everything else was downhill from there. As the years progressed , her studies and softball got easier...making the Deans list and a softball starter for 4 straight years...Once again, the main thing is getting them throught their freashman year..lol!

Now the next step, we're planning her wedding for August , 2009!
NOW THAT'S GOING TO BE TOUGH!!!!:yikes:

OMG!!! you all are making me think about this coming Saturday when I will be taking my DD!!! In this case I think it's her Daddy that will be doing all the crying on the way home!!! But dang! I am so excited and proud of her!! Good Luck to all the Beautiful Daughters with their college experiences!! Have them remember to "Be Strong" and stand up for what they believe in.

    IM

One thing that helps is Instant Messenger! Just put her IM name up and you'll feel a little better. Not necessarily to have an ongoing conversation all the time. Just seeing their names there with an away message of any kind gives you a little better secure feeling, knowing that they must be alright. Otherwise, they wouldn't be changing their away messages.

In addition to my daughter, I have several of the girls I care about on my IM. I don't initiate the IM but I talk with them if they IM me. It's just a good feeling when you know they're safe and happy for the most part. And they don't even have to know you're paranoid!

Don't be surprised at the away messages, though! And never butt in unless it's a REAL emergency!

    You are so right...

You are right on that one! IM was the most important thing in our house for that 1st year! The world could stop, the power could go out, but that internet connection and IM better be up and running! LOL It truly was a very good way to help us feel better and kept this Mama sane! (well kinda) LOL!

    I'm an expert....

    ......at this!......IT SUCKS!!!
I know, I know, we've gotta let 'em go, but the "empty nest" gig is for real!
My DD moved in Sat. and I've had to pull myself away from calling her way more than once.

    The kids will be fine.
Mom and Dad need to chill.

    Oh, about the tatoo..................................nevermind. Fishdaddy.

Tim crying oh my that would be a sight to see. Don't worry, we'll keep an eye on her up here. One of her new teamates is like one of my kids (Kelsey Burkett) and one is the daughter(Brittany Teer) of one of our very own TBR personalities. He'll keep an eye on all of them won't you Panther 29D. Di and i will even try to take in a game or two.
