    Showcase

How many coaches will be at this venue ?? All teams will be playing then, so I would assume coaches will be with there teams. Everything is a showcase now. Like the threads , before long we will have the diaper dandy showcase.

    "Showcase"

We use the term "Showcase" because it is not a "Tournament" with a winner being declared. Did not know that the term "Showcase" was exclusive to TB teams for college scholarship type players and college coaches. Trying to "showcase" the High School teams around the state and give them an early season opportunity to play against teams from other areas of the state before they get in conference play. Our biggest competition are the SAT's..they keep some of the teams from participating. By the way , we have had some college coaches come take a peek. If I remember correctly , TBR was going to come and set up a display last year before we got rained out.

    Guidelines?

Is this tournament within the guidelines of HS softball? Meaning, aren't they only allowed to play so many games each year and only during certain times of the year?

Just to be clear, I am asking because I don't know...

Is this the same tournament they have every year at Walnut Creek? Some call it the pre-season tournament?

    Yes.....

...and its a very good tournament.
Our HS played Riverside, 4A runner up this yr, Pender, Cape Fear.....both finished 1st or 2nd over the past 2-3 yrs.
    I. E. this event is worth looking into.

    "Showcase"

Yes. This Showcase meets all of the requirements of the NCHSAA. It does count as part of your regular season game limit of 23 games(24 , if you play an endowment game). The umpires are sanctioned and the fences are put up at 200'. We play regulation games , but do have approval to go to the International Tie Breaker , if go to extra innings. It is a great pre-conference outing for players, coaches and parents. We try to make each field competitive and mix all classifications(1A to 4A). Trying to get some competition going between the West and the East.
MarlinFan , Thanks! Tell my Buddy to knock'em out at NCSU!

    HS Invitational

Yes, this is usually a great tournament!! Most of the time the teams are matched pretty well as far as ability. Every once in awhile there's some mismatches but for the most part it is pretty competitive.

I remember when the West teams used to dominate the tournaments. The games have become a lot closer in recent memory.

For the most part, it looks more like a TB tournament on some of the fields. You don't want to miss participating in this annual event!!!

The title should be scrimmages not showcase...showcase is defined as a view of talent and attitude for the next level !!!

    OK my goodbuddy.....

.....you and Mic are correct in defining "showcase" events. So, in your own words "a view of talent and attitude for the next level"......what makes you think that theres no talent or attitude associated with this event? I promise you folks, theres MANY top HS teams loaded with MANY TB players! What RIPs thread is for...is for HS coaches reading TBR to be aware of an OFFICIAL tournament? So if RIP used the word "tournament", then that would suggest that there was some kind of "win and advance" format. The Riverside gig at Walnut Creek is more in line with being a "showcase" event than any other type I can think of. Will there be college coaches there? Probably a few locals.
Look, when ever a HS group can bring together, teams of all levels of talent, Ind, 1a,2a,3a,4a, and make something worthwhile....don't knock it!
We, in fastpitch need all the help possible in promoting this great game.
This "event" does just that, and in a very good manner, regardless of what its named.
And yes, the games played in this "event" do apply to your HS max.
