I was surfing around last week and found a great article on the South Atlantic League website about Madison; then noticed his picture-

Oh My goodness! He is an absolute beast of a MAN! Great article, great picture. Congratulations on your deserved success!

Another local young man having tremendous success is Jason McEachern of Hickory. Just out of high school, he has 21 innings w/ .86 ERA- only 2 runs allowed for the Princeton Devil Rays. ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!

Just watched Madison pitch 7 strong innings (allowing no runs) at a minor league game here in Kannapolis,,,,, he's a stud. Gordon Beckham was playing with the Kannapolis minor league team, but he could do nothing with Bumgardner.

Also, Ozzie Guillen was in the house, either WhiteSox had night off or he was serving one of his suspensions. :evil3:

tj- just to give you a heads up, Madison's family sold the "d" in their name. But he still remained a stud.

sold the "d" ? With his kinda money, he dont have to sell nothing.

Somebody said he's about 14-3 now this season, is that true? and if so does anyone know if they are planning on moving him up?

He just completely overmatched most of the hitters, including Beckham. The only thing he gave up was harmless little flares, he had 10 k's, and hit 97mph on the scoreboard radar.

And for you Caldwell brethren, also had the opportunity to meet Mr.Fairweather, pretty decent pitcher whos currently at Catawba College, nice young man.

This was back when they were poor and had no shoes. Madison was thinking about buying back the "d", but it's been so long he got used to it.

What most people don't know is when they sold that "d"...they became rich by investing that money in an upstart company.................Microsoft.

U-R-Out has been wearing custom Nike's ever since.

That gives all of the numbers, but you did make a mistake about Alex, he is an fantastic young man, and yes, a pretty ding dang good pitcher. I had the pleasure of calling the plate a few years ago when he was pitching, and reading the paper the next day, found out that he had thown a perfect game. That is still the only perfect game that I have ever called. It is nice to reflect on it since I have learned since then that he is such an outstanding young man.

A pair of first-round picks squared off at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium, but the highest-profile person in the park watched from the stands.

Augusta starter Madison Bumgarner, whom the San Francisco Giants selected 10th overall in 2007, shut down the Kannapolis Intimidators in the GreenJackets' 4-2 victory Thursday night.

Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was in attendance to watch his son, Oney, play second base for the Intimidators. Their lineup also featured Gordon Beckham, the eighth overall pick in the 2008 draft.

Beckham, who went 0-for-4, hit a slow roller to third and struck out twice in three at-bats against Bumgarner (14-3). Kannapolis trailed 4-0 until Mark Fleisher hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning.

Bumgarner, a South Caldwell High alum, allowed six hits and no runs in 6 1/3 innings. He had 10 strikeouts, no walks and reached 97 mph on the stadium's radar gun.

Guillen was able to attend because the White Sox had the day off — Chicago continues its homestand tonight against Tampa Bay. He sat on the front row near Augusta's dugout, signed autographs for young children and posed for pictures when approached by fans. He politely declined a midgame interview request.Oney Guillen, batting ninth in the order, went 1-for-3.

This was out of the salisury paper

Kevin, you should be proud of your son which I know that you are. Terrific outing once again! Just one question: ........ when you were sitting in your seat behind the dugout with your lovely Mom, a line drive off the bat of a left handed hitter came screaming your way, well everyone was real concerned that he would hit your Mom, (we weren't too concerned about you) well your Mom never moved and you jumped out of way like a someone was giving away free hot dogs! I thought all Umpires were supposed to be tough! Once you got back into your seat, your Mom still hasn't moved and she didn't notice you deserted here. Well, now I know where the toughness comes from in your family! Love ya mean it!
