Alexander Central looked very impressive in a 56-3 win over North Gaston. Get this, the Cougars can run the ball. They piled up close to 400 yards on the ground. North Gaston competed for a while but the Cougars just wore them down. Not to get too stoked because to be honest North Gaston is not a very good team. Strange, because they were 12-4 last year but they lost a ton of seniors who played almost all the minutes.

 

Yeah, Kings Mtn scored like 42 points in 9 minutes last week at the Gaston County Jamboree. I think we will see a lot of these NG scores this year. A lot of folks felt like Clark left the starters in a little long last year so there are some teams with that NG date circled. Clark headed to Boiling Springs SC while the getting was good.

Shelby 17 Lexington 14

Lexington looked improved from last year, but Shelby rarely looks good in scrims. The funniest thing I over heard on the night was a mother that got upset because she didn't get the food that they were giving to the players. She said that she drove 2 hours so she should get to eat for free too.

AC Reynolds 34 Kings Mtn 6

ACR showed they were the real deal. Great defense that forced 3 TO's. KM just needs to regroup and realize that they played a great team.

Crest 35 Hickory 7

Reggie and the Jets were on display. There are some fast guys on this Crest team. Reggie Wilkins ran for 2 TD's passed for one. Crest scores were made by JR Reggie Wilkins, Soph Neal Chambers, Soph Kendall Kee, Soph Patrick Bowman.

 

I saw something last night that I thought was a very poor bit of judgement by the North Gaston coaches. With almost the entire 4th quarter left (more than 10 minutes) the coaches up in the booth packed their stuff and walked back over to the North Gaston sidelines. I know that it made no difference in the game but we all try to teach the kids to always give their best. If the kids see the coaches quit, what kind of lesson is that ?

 

Why did they let the game end in a tie?

 

He has worked so hard since being named coach. I hope they keep pulling off the improbable because they are not loaded with talent, but I feel confident Coach Gowan can pull every bit of heart, talent, and guts from this crowd of kids. Good Luck guys. Maybe this is the year we catch some breaks.
