We all know the top programs in DI but many young ladies do not want the rigors of a DI while still being a part of a top ranked program. What are some of the top ranked programs here in NC and nationwide?

Not real sure i understand the question. The same rigors are there no matter if the school is D1 or D11 or D111 or NAIA or a JUCO. It's all about perspective but i believe the practice schedule guidelines are pretty much the same except maybe the JUCOs especially in Fla. where they probably practice more. If the perspective is it's more stressful to play at Carolina over say, App. or Mars Hill then it's just that perspective. You think a kid who has lived in Salsibury all their life and grew up wanting to play for Pfeiffer doesn't put as much pressure on themselves as a kid at State?
If you're playing at the next level then the 6:00 am workouts are still going to be there, the 4 hr. practices are going to be there no matter what school you play for.

Now if your question is what are the top D11 schools around maybe i can help there:
Barton, Belmont Abbey (Coach Terry has a very good program down there). Chowan, Fayetteville State, Lees-Mcrae, Lenoir-Rhyne (another very good program that takes alot of local kids), Livingstone, Mars Hill (Coach Williams does a good job w/ this program), Mount Olive, Pfeiffer, Queens, St. Andrews, Saint Augustine's, Shaw, Unc-Pembroke, and Wingate. Also some very good ones in VA and especially on the north side of SC (such as Erskine, Coker, Winthrop). Tusculum in Tenn. recruits some in this area. Hope i was some help.

got to agree with belmont abbey, coach terry is putting a good bunch of players together for this year and next year, rumor is that he has a top level pitching coach coming in and that will make a heck of a big difference.....

    ???

    I agree....
What is the point of this thread....

College softball in NC is strong.... at the DI level, at the DII level, and also at DIII, NAIA, and JUCO..... NC is also well respected nationally.....at all divisions...

If you eliminate DIII, NAIA, and JUCO.... you eliminate 65% of the
"opportunities" to play at the next level...

    Do your homework.......

Winthrop is Div 1 and has a pretty solid team. They have made it to post season at least the last two years - losing to Tennessee both years.

Unfortunately, I do not understand their recruiting strategy. They recruit a ton of Canadian kids and ignore the North Carolina / South Carolina area. They are hardly visible in the Charlotte area.

We were down there with the Cards Showcase and some of our parents got a tour of their facilities. They were really impressed with thier program. They had some equipment that was made for UCLA but UCLA didn't want it. He was really excited to show off his program. It tracks all kinds of things and mapped pitches, speeds, the difference in speeds, hits and misses, all kinds of stuff. He also said that every team that beat them last year had this certain pitching machine. It will throw any pitch without any adjustments, just a touch of a button. They bought that pitching machine.

I was told he likes Canadians because of their work ethic and fundamentals. They spend a lot of time inside during the cold months and they work on basics ALOT. He also does not want Mom and Dad in his ear when DD is not getting to play, (straight from the horses mouth).

He told these parents that he once had three perspective recruits out to dinner, one from California and two Canada I believe. After dinner the two girls thanked him for dinner and the one from Calif. said, "I thought we were getting dessert". He does not recruit from Calif. anymore. LOL

I hope everything you mentioned, he was just kidding. That's the worst indictment to the players and parents of softball in NC & SC I have ever heard. If a coach is overly concerned about parents meddlling, he/she are in the wrong business.
