dosen't canada pay for part of the tuition when a kid comes to school in the us-- if that is the case it sounds like it has more to do with money than work ethic because there a plenty of girl that work their ass off here in the carolinas-- maybe these carolina tourny's should think about not putting money into winthrops pocket to offer scholarships to canadians by renting the fields if carolina girls are not good enough then why is carolina money

    "Rigors" are relative but

despite what some have said on here it is, generally, tougher to play D1 than at other levels. II's and III's typically play fewer games and the travel is far less demanding. For example, ECU must fly to EVERY conference away game as the closest conference opponent is 500 miles away.

Based on performance on the field I'd say Wingate & LR are the top DII programs in NC with Pfieffer moving up. Wingate's new field house places it at the top in terms of DII facilities. Coach Caddigan does a great job there.

    Other Univ and Colleges

This is one University you are talking about. They may have thier reasons, but don't spend so much energy worrying about them.
There are many other universities and colleges out there who would love to have your daughter's come play. The QDSS brings in 100's of 'other' college coaches to their showcase. Have your daughter spend her time marketing to the 'other' colleges.

I understand a coach recruiting heavily in an area he is familiar with, but in this era of travel ball and showcase those sentiments are no longer valid. Regardless whether there are other opportunities, if the preconceived opinion of players in NC and SC were expressed by this coach to others in and out of the program....that is plain wrong and very unprofessional to express it to others.

If he prefers Canadians because of his belief they are more talented...fine. But to indict parents and players in our state as meddlesome and lazy. Well, I'm sure there are many that will disagree. That's a heckuva a way to build a program by alienating current and future prospects in your state.

I'll say this with complete confidence, Coach Hudek, the baseball coach at Winthrop would never, ever believe that.

    Good Lord - Touchy Touchy

First thing I thought when I got only this far into this thread was: Good God, who bit these people in the butts today?

Make up your minds folks. Thread after thread is devoted to DI play is equivalent to having a 40 hour per week job and if you want more time to study, more time to experience other things, then you look towards a DII, DII, Junco program etc.

Charlie, you yourself - along with at least one other grump in this posting, have pointed that out yourself. Here is even a sample of what has been said:

These same athletes report spending 38.5 hours on academic activities.

You had better love softball and everything that goes with it if you are going D1!

    Experience is a great teacher.....
Listen well, this is a test..

Be absolutely sure you can handle the pace and requirements.
    Don't fool yourself.....

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

At no point did my thread say anything about "Well if you havvvvvvveeee to consider the more lowly DII and DIII programs out there, then what are the top of the dog pile?"

For SOME kids, they would prefer to go DII, DIII or Junco. And in this case, my daughter and I have spent the better part of a year discussing just what division would be best for HER because even though she carries a heavy courseload and maintains a 3.75 or better GPA - she is dyslexic and takes 2x's the amount of time to study compared to her peers. After a year + of watching all you "learned" individuals go on and on about the rigors of each different program, and inspiring these conversations, my dd had one simple question:

What are some of the best DII and DIII prog's out there so that she could start pulling together her lists, getting information on schools and what courses of study they offer, etc.

But hey, Thanks bunches. Truly enjoyed the rudeness.

As for you, personally, Charlie, and your comment about doing your homework?

I was attempting to do some "homework", asking those I believed to be knowledgeable. Those I figured out that could give all us wondering about this same thing some great pointers, advice, etc - you know, what this board is all about - helping girls to get to the next level, sharing knowledge and experience?

Do YOUR homework next time - on etiquette.

    My Bad....

Obviously, I didn't understand your post.... which I stated at the beginning of mine.

Your post asked who were the top D1 and D2 programs in the state.
My intent was only to ask, " what about D3, NAIA, and JUCO?"

My comment about " doing your homework" referred to that...
based on your post, it appears you are....

I certainly don't post on this board to offend. My intent is to educate...

Best of luck with your DD's college search.
