The outstanding '09's???

Robbie Ijames (now at East Rowan HS), shortstop, was Rowan County Player of Year as junior (not bad in a baseball county), hit .548, 9 homeruns last season alone, 21 stolen bases, and I've heard he runs a sub 6.8 60.

His brother David Ijames (also now a senior) was an all-county outfielder who hit .461 with 4 homeruns last year, with 19 stolen bases.

 

I would include Corbin Shive (RHP, East Rowan) on this list. Last year he was 11-1 with a 1.25 ERA and 76k's. He was 8-0 this summer for the South Charlotte Panthers. He touches around 91 mph. Should be committing to a school very soon.

 

Paul McIntosh

Greenville Rose High School. If I could get one guy from any program in the state this would be the guy I would want on my team. Quite simply he is a pitcher. He absolutely shuts down good hitters. He is the type of kid at a showcase event that would be totally ignored. He is not going to light up a radar gun and he is not a physically imposing player. What he can do is consistently get very good hitters out. Paul throws everything out of the same arm slot and everything with the same arm speed. He can flat out paint and he knows how to pitch.

All you have to do is ask the guys that have faced him. I had two guys that will be in the ACC next season. Over their careers in hs and during summer and fall baseball they faced some very good arms. Both said after facing Paul that he was the toughest pitcher they had ever faced. If there are any college coaches out there that are looking for a guy that can throw strikes on a consistent basis and get good hitters out then you need to get on this guy. Get over the radar gun readings and get over the projectable frame stuff. If your looking for a guy that simply will help you win games give Coach Vincent a call at JH Rose.

Know one that as faced him will disagree with this post. There are alot of guys that can throw hard. The guys that can consistently throw strikes and command an off speed pitch and consistently get out good hitters are few are far between.

 

Corey Rhoney East Burke. Haven't got to see him alot because he hasn't played legion ball but had a great season last year. Don't know his stats but saw in the paper where he was all conference and in a league that featured alot of guys you are talking about on here, not bad. Those that have seen him play is his future on the bump or in the field? From what I 've read and heard most of his playing in the summer on his travel team has been on the hill. Any idea what he has been clocked at and who is looking at him?

 

Those are two of my favorite. The amazing thing is Jon Sharpe should be a junior this year...he is very young. Which the recruiters should love.

Adam Church is simply the most underrated player in the West. No pitcher wants to face him--he also went yard off Jordan Darnell. The kid has the size, the tools and the make up. I love when he comes down off the mountain top, so I get a chance to see him play

I know this is 09's, but I have to say this. Watauga has a freshman that may become the best player EVER at Watauga. It's going to be interesting to see all those scouts making a trip up that mountain. I hope Pete Hardee has the tram fixed by then.

 

I believe the young player your talking about is yet another one of the Martins. They couldn't dominate the high school enough the last 4 years with the other three Martin boys that played football and baseball so they had to combine all their strengths to make one. I have heard a lot about him. Watched him play once while he was in Little League. He went 4-4 with two home runs (one of which being a grand slam) and had 8 RBIs in the game. It will be interesting to see if he plays along side his brother Baine who was an all conference center fielder last year and his little brother that we are talking about is competing for a job at DH or left field from what I read about in the articles about the summer team.

Adam church will be the most feared hitter in the conference next year IMO. The faster you throw it, the harder he hits it. Hang a curveball, he drills it.

Jon Sharpe, his record speaks for itself. 7-1 last year in a tough conference. He turned 16 last year. He is at least a year younger than almost anyone on the team. So not even 17 with a 90 mph fastball... yikes. Give him a year and watch out.

 

I have a couple of very good 09 players that i want to mention here.

Trey Davis (Catcher)- IMHO, one of the best receivers around, and has developed into a very good catch and throw guy. His am continues to get strong and he is very sound defensively. A kid you want controlling your pitching staff and a true leader. One of the hardest workers I have ever coached is an excellent base runner. Was the leading hitter on our team this year and is a solid line drive hitter. A 2 time All Conference Catcher, IMHO he is one of the best if not the best catcher in our area.

Stephen Wright - (INF/OF/RHP) -- This left handed player can play anywhere on the field and is a solid line drive hitter that runs well. good range as a INF and an excellent outfielder. MIxes pitches well and looks to be a very solid pitcher.

Others have seen these guys play and I dont like to brag on them but I think others will agree about these guys...

 

Yep, that's the one. The thing is, when it's time to recruit, other schools will be salivating trying to get him to their school. But they might as well stay home....that boy is going to Florida State!!!!!!! His Uncle Mike Martin (HC @ Fla. St.) will make sure of it
